Earthquake in the Turkey/Syria border region: Emergency humanitarian aid is the order of the day!
Urgent first aid is needed!
A severe earthquake in the early morning of 6 February 2023 shook the border area between south-eastern Turkey and north-western Syria. The 7.4 magnitude quake and the 7.9 magnitude aftershock claimed at least 2500 lives by evening. Thousands of workers and farmers are injured, some are digging for survivors with their bare hands. The extent of the destruction is incalculable. Many children are among the victims. The province of Rojava in northern Syria, which is under democratic self-government, has also been affected. We mourn with the relatives of the victims and share with them the worries and needs for the injured, buried and traumatised workers and farmers.
Help is urgently needed to organise emergency medication and bandages directly on site.
