Hands off Kaliningrad!

Appeal of the Polish Section

Victory Day on May 9, 2023, was terrible for the Communists and the world proletariat, not only because of the disgusting "celebrations" in imperialist Russia, but also because a resolution of the 125th meeting of the Commission for the Standardization of Geographic Names beyond the Borders of the Republic of Poland, which operates under the Chief Geodetic Surveyor of the country, comes into effect from that day. What does this decision contain?
"(...) for the city with the Russian name Калининград (Kaliningrad), only the Polish name Królewiec is recommended and it is not recommended to use the name Kaliningrad in Polish (...).
In making the above changes, the Commission took into account that:
- the city currently bearing the Russian name Kaliningrad is known in Poland under the traditional name of Królewiec,
- the current Russian name of this city is an artificial christening unrelated to either the city or the region,
- the fact of naming a large city close to Poland's borders after M.I. Kalinin, a criminal co-responsible, among other things, for issuing the decision to mass murder Poles (the Katyn Massacre), has an emotional, negative character in Poland,
- geographic names, in addition to their identification function, can have symbolic functions, and the current Russian city name is an element of Russia's symbolic space that is also imposed on audiences outside the country's borders,
- events related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the imposition of the so-called Russkiy mir, Russia's waging of an information war, make us take a different look at the issue of imposed names that arouse great controversy and do not meet with acceptance in Poland (...)."
First, the city's name is inextricably linked to Mikhail Kalinin due to the fact that it was Red Army soldiers who captured the city from the Nazis. These soldiers were inspired and led by the Bolshevik Party of Lenin and Stalin, of which Mikhail Kalinin was a loyal activist throughout his life.
Secondly, the Katyn massacre was carried out by Nazi fascists, and documents with signatures of Stalin and Kalinin, among others, were forged to confirm Goebbels' thesis. What matters are the real deeds of Comrade Kalinin, not forged pieces of paper!
And thirdly, modern Putin's Russia has literally nothing in common with the Soviet Union of Lenin and Stalin, which Mikhail Kalinin faithfully served!
It didn't take long for the Russian Federation to react. Dmitry Peskov said that this decision , "borders on madness," and Dmitry Medvedev , "proposed" that Poland change its major cities to their former German equivalents. He wouldn't be himself if he didn't add his imperialist tirade:
"And of course there is no Poland, only the Duchy of Warsaw, or the Kingdom of Poland, which is part of the Russian Federation, as the successor to the Russian Empire.
You both have no right to "defend" Kaliningrad! Your imperialist superiors removed Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Kalinin, or Gorky from the map, while your social-imperialist predecessors decommunized Stalingrad, while naming cities in honor of their revisionist minions, such as Togliatti!
The Polish Section fully agrees with the Comintern's (SH) position on Tsiurupinsk:
"Changes of city names are exclusively the business of the people who live in those cities."
Hands off Mikhail Kalinin and his city!
Restore all proletarian memorials dishonored by fascists and revisionists!
No to anti-communist and anti-worker propaganda!
Long live the world socialist revolution!
Long live Stalinism-Hoxhaism!
