Dear Comrades

First of all we thank you for your work in the translation of the "30 years of KPD/ML in the GDR". It is an invaluable work for exposing the revisionism of the SED both inside and outside of Germany, as I have previously stated the dismantling of the "Stalinist" myth of the SED is not only a national (German) issue but an issue that concerns the whole of the revolutionary proletariat. Too many times have we been met with scoffs and dismissal when we in America dare to suggest to the "hardliners" and "tankies" that the SED was a revisionist party and that the struggle conducted by the GDR section of the KPD/ML was fully necessary and justified to bring about a United Socialist Germany. and we are always eager to add to our arsonal of Stalinist-Hoxhaist experience to crush modern revisionism and neo-revisionism.

On this topic

A question was raised to me by a somewhat inexperienced colleague regarding how the KPD of Ernst Thalmann was destroyed in the 30s and 40s and how we came to the position where people such and Pieck,Ulbricht, and Honecker would seize control of the strongest communist party outside of the CPSU(b). I gave them a short answer which is surely not fully complete but I try my best to educate newer comrades within my admittedly limited means.

My response was

1st

The many of best fighters and leaders of the KPD stayed in Germany to carry on the fight against Nazi-fascism within their own country and it is sadly the case that many gave their lives in this struggle, many of the best of the Thalmann generation sold their lives dearly in the struggle against german fascism.

The clique of Pieck,Ulbricht and Honecker portrayed themselves convincingly as loyal Stalinists and further using their high party positions (which they had not earned but rather seized in the absence of the genuine Stalinists still fighting in Germany) used the renegade NKVD of Yezhov to eliminate many Stalinists during the later years of the great purge on falsified charges in order to clear the way for their seizure of power (it is plainly obvious that many revisionists used this tactic which is why Yezhov was eventually sentenced to death)

3rd

The Thalmann generation was not fully eliminated and brave Comrades such as Heinz Reiche are a testament to the enduring legacy of Ernst Thalmann comrades like Reiche struggled both against fascism and social fascism in the ranks of the Thalmann KPD and the Aust KPD/ML.
