We thank comrade Merlin for his permission to publish a letter that he sent to the editors of our central organ "World Revolution".

Lately I have been reflecting on the effectiveness of an aspect of bourgeois propaganda in periods of relative stability (at least in the richest and/or imperialist countries), which is the fact that it manages to favor a higher layer of the working class and manages to pass the message of that these workers are more compensated because they dedicate themselves more to their work or are more capable and intelligent, which is largely not accurate, but to a certain extent, in fact, the stronger and more intelligent manage to succeed more easily than the weaker ones or even average. This fact ends up placing a part (management and intermediate positions, workers with a little more income, state and union bureaucracy, etc..), with relative and variable weight, of the working class, extremely well prepared, active and capable of service of the bourgeoisie and the oppression of the remaining workers and at the same time end up having a direct psychological effect on lowering self-esteem and self-confidence on fight and even on the feeling of entitlement and legitimacy to struggle if there is lack of political training or knowledge. Of course, it is the bourgeoisie itself that stimulates this division and that the crises will end up reducing the weight of these elements hostile to the revolutionary movement and even bringing some to the side of the revolution. I think that none of this is new, but if there is something useful in this reflection, I am satisfied.
