Chapter 43: Dinner and a Movie

POV: 3rd Person

Shadow and Amy are in the kitchen, preparing dinner for the rest of the group. They had decided to make Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. Shadow is currently using a knife to cut the chicken into small squares, and Amy is grating the parmasean to use. Amy looks over to Shadow and sees how quick and flawlessly he moves the knife. "You have really good technique. That chicken looks great." Shadow gives a small smile to the hedgehog, not looking up from his chicken. "Thanks." The two return to their tasks at hand and once finished they begin working on new jobs. Shadow is in charge of cooking the meat and the sauce, and Amy is in charge of dessert and cooking the pasta. Shadow washes his hands from the raw chicken and picks the seasoning out he needs. Amy starts the pasta on the stove and gathers ingredients for her desert.

((Fun fact: Alfredo sauce is super simple to make. If you're curious, I usually just melt a stick of butter and pour in a quart of heavy whipping cream. I whisk it for about 6 minutes on medium high heat until it thickens, then add about 1.5 - 3 cups of parmasean (depends on how thick I want it) and let it melt. Boom. Sauce. I season it with roasted garlic and herb, minced onion, pepper, basil, and parsley.))

Meanwhile, the rest of the group, aside from Sonic, are in the livingroom. Silver is sitting on the loveseat with Mephiles, and Mighty is sitting on the couch next to Knuckles, leaving Tails to sit on the chair. They were chatting about some of their past adventures. "One time, Eggman decided to take over the world by making tomato sauce. I thought the sauce was poison, but it was the cans that were the issue. The cans were all robots and they took over our electronics." Knuckles snickered "He tried that a different time too, when we were on earth and he was in jail, he sent out a bunch of appliances with a device that takes control of all the other devices." Silver chuckles "Wow, He really seems to like letting others do his dirty work for him." Rouge chuckles "You can say that again~ remember when he got Chaos to try and destroy us under his command?" Mephiles widens his eyes "Chaos? Like.. the god of Destruction?" Tails just chuckled "Yeah, Sonic ended up defeating him as always though. Chaos is peaceful now." Knuckles laughs "That was a chaotic time" the group laughs at Knuckles' pun and Sonic walks back in, hoping dinner was almost ready "So, what'd I miss?" Silver smiles "They were just talking about old battles and adventures. You fought Chaos and won?" Sonic chuckles before giving his signature pose "Of course. I knew I'd win. Especially with the help of my friends." Sonic shuffles his feet quickly "With my speed, nothing can stop me." Shadow walks out of the kitchen at this time, chuckling darkly "Except me"

Sonic turns around to the dark hedgehog standing in the archway, sticking his tongue out at him "That doesn't count. You have to Chaos control to catch me. It's cheating." Shadow smirks and rolls his eyes, leaning against the frame "It's not cheating, you just don't want to admit defeat." The blue hedgehog pouts and shakes his head before getting an idea, smirking at the taller male "Oh yeah? Then catch me without chaos control." The group watch as the blue blur zips around the living room, Shadow rolling his eyes and chasing him half a second later. They watch as Sonic goes around the long way, the dark hedgehog taking a shortcut through the living room. They hear a "OOF" and look to see Shadow standing there with his arm out, smirking at the blue hedgehog now wrapped over his arm. Shadow chuckles "There. Proof enough? Dinner's ready by the way." He puts his arm down and Sonic crosses his arms with a pout "Whatever, you just got lucky." Shadow smirks "I beat you with pure skill." "Luck" "Skill" "Luck!" "Skill, just like I beat you in this argument right now." Shadow walks off back towards the kitchen to set the table, the blue hedgie pouting after him. The rest of the group get up and head into the kitchen quietly laughing to themselves, sitting at the table, that has three extra chairs pulled up. Sonic sits next to Shadow as usual, with Mephiles sitting next to them. Amy sits at one end with Mighty. On the other side of the table sits Knuckles, Tails, and Silver, with Rouge at the other head.
