Chapter 8: School

Pov: Tails

After we finished our lunch, Sonic raced to our shared bedroom to get ready for his shower. I helped Amy and Knuckles clean up the mess on the table and Shadow went to his room. Knuckles went to the back porch to get some fresh air and meditate and Amy and Rouge decided to go out on a 'girls day'. I walk into Sonic's and my room and grab the papers I laid on the dresser. I head back to the living room to sit on the couch and wait for my older brother.

After a few short minutes Sonic comes out looking clean. I stand up "Ready to go?" He nods and walks up to me, ruffling the fur ok my head 'ugh, he always does that' "hey!" I say as I laugh and fix my fur "Ok, I'll lead the way, it's not that far from here actually." We head out the house, I have my backpack with me, of course, wouldn't want anything happening and I don't have my backup emergency equipment. We make a few turns around the block and walk down the street for about a mile when we come up to the big brick building labeled 'Rose Hills High' I walk up to the entrance and open the door for Sonic to enter.

We make our way to the front window and I wave at the man I spoke to earlier, standing next to the lady I saw befire i left, reading some paper. He was a short male human only standing at about 5 foot 4. He had short dark blond hair, a short red beard (which was more beard than mustache) and a lightly tanned complexion. He looked up from the paper he was reading and smiled brightly when he saw me, giving it back to the lady sitting at the desk. "Oh hey, I wasn't expecting you back so soon. Miles, right? And you must be Sonic?" He gestured towards my brother and Sonic nodded before the principal continued. "My name is principal Joshua Falmer, but you can just call me Josh. Miles here told me he'd come back with you at some point. Come with me, we'll go to my office and discuss the paperwork."

We follow the man to his office and he sits down behind the desk, gesturing at the two chairs. Sonic and I take a seat and I pull out the papers I had filled out and place them on the desk, sliding them towards him. "I filled out most of the info already. I got the papers from the lady that was at the desk you were by. I believe her name was DeAndra" Josh smiled and grabbed a couple pens and the papers I set down. "Oh good. That makes my job even easier. I just have a few verbal questions and then we can discuss where to go from there." Sonic leans back in his chair and crosses his legs out in front of him with his hands on his head "shoot" I roll my eyes at him and turn back to the principal nodding, indicating I'm ready to answer his questions.

"Ok, so first thing I like to ask is do you have any issues being in a mostly human school. Our ratio is approximately 70% human and 30% Mobian. We do have an all mobian school if you'd rather." I chuckle and shake my head "I have no qualms about that. I actually lived with some humans at one point in time." Josh smiled and leaned back, relaxing in his chair a bit "Good. Some don't feel comfortable being around so many humans, which is understandable, so I just wanted to make sure. The next question I have is are you going to be ok with taking a placement test since we have no records of schooling for you? Which is perfectly fine by the way." I nod "That sounds fine. I'm curious as to what I'll score anyway." Sonic smirks next to me and gives me a thumbs up "Bud I think you'll score too high and they'll say you don't even need school. You're too smart"

I blush lightly at the compliment and shake my head "Thank you Sonic, but I would still want to go here anyway, even if I did end up surpassing their records. I really want to check out the science club and advanced robotics class." The principal continued "Good, Good. Another question is would you have a reliable transportation to school? Or would we have to set you up to ride the bus?" I look at Sonic then back to the principal "Yeah, I'll be fine. We don't live that far from here anyway. It's only about a 20 minute walk." Josh nodded yet again and said "ok, well I see no reason why we wouldn't enroll you today, so if Sonic is ok with it we can discuss your schedule and enrollment fee." 'Oh no, enrollment fee? Neither of us have any money!'
