Chapter 6: A True Joy Ride

POV: Shadow

'Holy shit, he actually listened. I wasn't expecting that.' I nod and say "Good". I start to walk away when the blue hedgehog interrupted "Can I at least have a hint? I don't want to sit here without knowing anything." I sighed, knowing that I wouldn't trust me if I were him either. "I'm going to let you go fast. Safely. Ish" and with that I walk away, knowing if I stayed he'd bug me for more info. After about 10 minutes I finally make it to my destination. I walk through the doors and look around at the building. There are rows and rows of bikes big and small. There looks to be mobian sized bikes next to the human sized bikes. And they didn't change anything about them except the sizes. That's already a good sign.

I see Honda VTXs, Yamaha V Stars, Harley Sportsters, Kawasaki Vulcans and more. Old and new bikes filled the place. I glance at the sports bikes for a few, and then turn my head to the cruisers. One bike really catches my eye. A black and red 2021 Honda Rebel. I look at the info tag '1100 ccs? Perfect' ((AN: for non bikers reading this. That is a powerful engine. Similar to a v8. I look at the price '$12,000' 'that's not that bad for this model' I think to myself before looking at everything thr bike offers.

As I am looking around and inspecting it more, a female cheeta mobian walks up to me. "Can I help you with any questions you may have about this bike? Or any others we have in store?" I look up at her and then stand up straight. "Yeah, how many miles are on this, and can I test drive it real quick?" The cheeta nodded "Yes of course you can. And this one is brand new. There should be less than ten miles on it. We haven't had it in long" She goes off somewhere and gets the key. She returns and hands it to me. I start it up and smile 'oh, just listen to that baby purr'. I take it for a quick spin, and head back knowing this bike is perfect. I pay the dealership and get my paperwork for it. I pack it in the saddlebags and take off back to Sonic.

I pull up in front of him and stop. Putting it in neutral, putting the kickstand down, and hopping off. Sonic widens his eyes and jumps up "Wow, it's so pretty. Where'd you get it?" I smirk "I just bought it. Go on, take it for a spin." I see Sonic drop his smile and scratch the back of his head nervously "Well, uh. You see? I don't know how. Thank you for trying though." I look back at the bike, and then back at him and sigh "Fine. I'll let you ride on the back. Just be sure to lean with me, not against, or we're both going down." Sonic cocked his head to the side "lean?" 'Oh for chaos sake. The Faker doesn't even know you have to LEAN?' I pinch the brow of my nose, and nod "yeah, lean. Just. Just get on and I'll show you." With that being said I hop on the bike and put my back foot pegs down for him.

I straighten the bike up and he hops on. "Hold on" "Wait hold on to wha- oh shit!" I smirk and take off as fast as I can as soon as he starts asking. I feel him lean back when I first take off and then cling to me. I smirk even bigger "What, can't handle a little speed~?" I tease. I feel him loosen his grip and sit back a bit "It's obviously not the speed. I just wasn't expecting that. Also I'm sitting down. Plus I'm not in control of the speed!" I chuckle "I know I'm just messing with you" and with that I throttle it to get on the highway. I feel Sonic wrap his arms back around me and I unconsciously lean into the touch. 'It's been so long since anyone has hugged me or put their arms around me for any reason. I kind of I miss it' I speed up to about 120 and weave through the traffic. The wind whipping past us feels nice. Sonic is actually leaning naturally with me I can't feel him fighting me at all. I take a deep breath of the fresh air. 'Man. It's a good day for a ride' I purr subconsciously as we continue to weave through the traffic, unaware that the blue hedgehog behind me can feel the different vibrations in his arms.

After a while, I decide to exit the highway and take some backroads. I memorized where we went so we wouldn't get lost. I apparently picked a good one as it has lots of curves. I purr louder and relax forgetting that Sonic was even there. After a while I make my way back to our house and park it up by the garage. Sonic hops off and I jump for a second. "Shit. I forgot you where there" I heard him chuckle "I figured. I didn't think you'd purr if you knew I was there. I didn't think you had the ability to be happy like that" I felt my face flush and I crossed my arms "I don't purr, you were probably just feeling the engine" I look away from him, not wanting to show my embarrassment. "Aww you don't have to be embarrassed Shads. I purr sometimes too. It's just hedgehog nature. I'm glad you were happy for once. Also that was fun. Even though you were a jerk at first and scared me. It was nice once you steadied. I wouldn't mind learning somehow if we have to stay here a while. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't speed AT ALL"

I turn back to him and give a small smile "So, we're even now? If we're going to live together I figured we'd have to at least be neutral with each other." He smiled a genuine smile "Yeah Shads. We're even. And I'd love to be friends with you if you're willing to be friends with me. I don't just want to be neutral. I want something more." I smile and nod, 'I guess I wouldn't mind having him as a friend. We have more in common than I thought. He's not that annoying. All the time anyway'
