Chapter 48: Ambush part 1

POV: 3rd Person

Everyone took off today and Tails called in sick. Once everyone was awake, they chaos controlled to Silver's house, all of the mobians either called out of work or school for various reasons, knowing they'll need as much preparation as possible for the day they are going to have. Shadow started the day off by drinking several cups of coffee, needing the energy. Sonic drank a couple cups as well, hoping to achieve hyper Sonic speeds if need be. Amy worked with her assigned group in the melee room, which consisted of every other mobian with abilities that wouldnt fit in with the special groups, and the ones without special abilities. Shadow, Rouge, and Mephiles took the first several rounds in the training room with their team. Team Shadow had a Wolf mobian named Onyx who had the ability to blend into the shadows, a dog mobian named Bec with the ability to teleport, and a goat mobian named Vanessa with the ability to fly and create water from thin air. Sonic's team had the obvious Tails, Espio, and Silver. He also has a cheetah mobian named May with the ability to create a force field and freeze an enemy if she makes eye contact with them, a bird mobian named Lilith, who has the ability to pick up enemies in a ball of light, she calls phaselock, and a male cat mobian with super speed and super strength named Jasper. Knuckles and Mighty's team consisted of the bear Mobian named Bjorn that Shadow fought in the ring, he has super strength and a fast healing factor. Knuckles also had a walrus mobian named Tucker with super strength and the ability to blow back enemies with his breath attack, and a hedgehog named Molly with super speed and the ability to jump really high. Tails had built communicators for everyone, in case anyone needs it. He passed them out to everyone first thing, and had everyone test them to make sure none were malfunctioning.

They spent time training and swapping out the teams in the combat room. Before they knew it, the alarm rang, signaling it was time to get ready for the attack. Everyone gathered their things, Shadow stocking up on ammo and eating a few handfuls of coffee beans to charge up his chaos energy to the max. Sonic chugged an energy drink and jogged in place, waiting for everyone to be ready. Rouge made sure her wings and legs were stretched while Knuckles stretched his muscles. Tails made sure his tails were warmed up and his devices were ready for action, and Amy stretched and gathered her team, giving them a quick pep talk to ready them mentally. The entire group joined together, and the heros stood in front, facing them. Sonic took charge and said first "Ok everyone, whatever happens, we will change things today. I believe you are all ready and capable. Remember, even if you mess up and something bad happens, we're all living beings, mistakes happen, no one is perfect. Tails made us all communicators, so use them if you have to. Don't feel ashamed if you do, even us experienced heros need to call for help sometimes. Just remember your training and use your instincts. Do your best, ok?" He gives the crowd his signature smile with a wink and thumbs up. Shadow steps up, crossing his arms in that stance we all know so well giving a curt nod before speaking. "He's right about using your instinct. Sometimes it will go against your training, follow the instinct anyway. It is one of the most powerful abilities you possess. Trust me, I would know, half the time I act solely on instinct." Amy nods "Everyone do your best out there today. With everyone's help, there's no way we'll lose out there. I know it might be scary, but trust us, we've done this countless times with way tougher enemies. We got this!" Knuckles walks up, punching his fist into his hand. "Now lets get out there and win this thing!" The crowd nods with enthusiasm, cheering quickly before they head out to make their way to the headquarters in small groups. They go to their designated areas, acting casual as they get in place. Shadow's team teleports inside one of the storage closets, the ones who can't teleport grabbing one who can. The team hunker down for a few seconds to make sure there was no commotion outside the room. Once they decide its clear, Mephiles and Shadow give each other a nod before the black and red one whispers into the communicator, to Tails "We're in." Tails sends a message over to the echidna "Knuckles, it's go time." Knuckles gets up from his spot on the bench he was sitting at, nodding to either side of him at his team. They go up to the front of the building and start pounding on the doors. Tucker the walrus uses his loud voice to shout "OPEN UP, WE DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH THE MOBIANS YOU HAVE TAKEN" a group of agents open the doors and exit, guns pointed at the group "We don't know what you are talking about. Leave or be shot." Knuckles hits his palm with his fist, giving them a sly smile. "If you won't tell us then we'll have to beat it out of you." The distraction team hears their cue and begins fighting the agents, dodging the bullets and knocking them out, since they didn't want to kill them. More and more agents get sent outside, allowing the mobians inside to have an easier time getting around inside the building unseen. Shadow leads them silently through the building to the back door where Sonic's team is supposed to enter. He opens the door, setting off an alarm and chaos controls the group to a separate part of the building, closer to where the Emerald should be held. Sonic's team sees the door open from their hiding spot in the woods, and they dash inside the building, shutting the door before the guards have a chance to appear.
