Chapter 32: Bros

POV: Tails

After the race I congratulate Sonic, even though I knew he was going to win anyway. I see him walk over to the group of mobians, asking him questions and chuckle 'he always gathers fans wherever he goes' I look around, deciding where I should go next. I glance back to where I saw Sonic last, and he's gone and the others are dispersing. 'Huh. I wonder where he ran off to now?' I walk around a bit, watching others practice and bump into knuckles chatting with mighty "Mighty? You're here too?" He turns to me and smiles "Oh. Hey Tails, I didn't know you knew about this place. What can you do? I have super strength, and can run pretty fast." I smile and twirl my tails, showing off my power. "I can fly, and I use my tails to propell me forwards when I run, I'm able to keep up with Sonic at his lower and average speeds." Knuckles chuckles and turns to me "Mighty and I were just talking about going for a round in the ring. I might have finally found someone who matches my strength based off the stories he's told me." I smile "I want to go check out the lab upstairs, but I'll watch you two fight first." They both smile and nod to each other, heading towards the fighting ring. I follow, looking around at all the mobians wandering around happily.

We get to the ring and notice two others up there currently. There is a wolf mobian and a cat mobian, sparring each other. We watch and wait for them to finish, the cat being the victor. We tell them both they did great and Mighty and Knuckles take their turn, getting up into the ring. I see that they nod to each other, signaling they're both ready, and the fight begins. It is a rather lage ring, so they have plenty of space to dodge and dash. Knuckles gets the first punch in, sending mighty back a few feet. Mighty only smiles at this and dashes towards Knuckles at high speed, but Knuckles' reaction time is faster. He reaches his hands up, catching the armadillos fist, swinging for an uppercut which gets caught by Mighty. Before the stalemate can continue too long, Mighty uses his hard head to headbutt Knuckles, knocking him back a couple feet. Knuckles smiles and looks back up at Mighty, catching himself by placing his fist on the ground. Knuckles lunges at him again, this time going for a kick. Mighty wasn't expecting this and blocks too high, getting a kick to the gut and sending the two flying for a second, until Mighty catches his foot on the ground, turning himself around and causing Knuckles to fall to the ground.

This kind of back and forth goes on for quite a while and I turn away for a second when I see Silver walking towards us. "Oh hey Silver, have you happened to see Sonic? I lost him earlier." Silver chuckles and looks at me "Oh, He's with his boyfriend~" I chuckle and hit Silver on the shoulder playfully, asking curiously "What's he doing with Shadow?" He just chuckles again "I saw them earlier and Shadow looked awful. Sonic said he has a migraine and they needed somewhere to go away from everyone, and Shadow needed some food." He chuckles again before continuing "I let them in my room and went to get food. When I came back Sonic was rubbing his ears and they were both purring. It was so cute. He seems so caring towards him." I laugh quietly and shake my head slightly "Yeah, he's done that before. Shadow practically turns into a puddle when Sonic does that for him. I'm not sure why. I've done it for Sonic when he had migraines, because I read there's a pressure point there. And he just taps his foot like a dog and the migraine goes away." Silver chuckles "I bet Shadow really likes him then. Everything feels different when it's someone you like as opposed to a friend or family member." I smile "You know? That would actually make sense. Sonic is the first person he's actually let get close to him since we've met him. I mean, he's slowly becoming more friendly to the rest of us, but still. I kind of hope they end up together. It would be cute and good for them." Silver smiles "Yes, it definitely would. Speaking of... did I tell you who I am dating?" I tilt my head with one of my ears slightly lowered in curiosity. "No. You haven't. Who is it?" I can see a small blush appear on his face and he gives me a small smile "I'm dating Mephy. We've been dating since summer before school started. I had a crush on him the day he started school last year, I was just to nervous to ask him out. Turns out he liked me too and ended up asking me out instead." He finishes his short story with a chuckle, and I smile big "Aww that's so cute. I can definitely see it. If you haven't noticed already, Rouge the Bat and Knuckles up there are dating. They've been flirting for years, but I guess something happened the other night and they're dating now." Silver smiled and nodded "Yes. They made it very obvious. They seem good for each other, and I don't even know them that well." I turn back to look at Knuckles and Mighty, still fighting. I sigh and turn back to Silver "This is going to take forever. Knuckles is the strongest mobian I know, and apparently he finally found someone with enough strength to take him on."

Silver looks up and watches the two fighting, and I turn towards them as well. After what feels like forever, Mighty finally hits Knuckles to the ground, somehow able to pin him. Knuckles taps out for the first time in his life and Mighty helps him up, the two giving each other a bro hug. I hear the conversation between the two. "That was a great fight. I'm sure I could have won if we were on the ground instead of an arena. I have several different attacks I can use. But there's no doubt you're naturally a little stronger than me." Knuckles said, to which Mighty replied with "You probably could if the attacks are powerful enough. You definitely make a worthy opponent. You had me testing my strength the whole time. I haven't had someone able to take nearly as many hits as you, and you got in some really great hits on me. Most of the time I can easily beat my opponent and it ends up not being fun. We should definitely do this again sometime. Bros?" Mighty held out and hand and Knuckles shook it with a smile "Bros."

POV: Amy

I disperse from the crowd after watching Sonikuu and Shadow race and walk over to the far right side of the basement. I look over behind the shooting range, and there is a thick wall between the two rooms. I glance at the room and notice that it is a melee practice room. I notice Rouge practicing her kicks and look over to a rack in front of the entrance. There are tons of melee weapons, swords, staffs, axes, spears, clubs, bats, and my favorite, a huge sledgehammer. I smile and walk over, picking a hammer that looks most similar to my Piko Piko Hammer. It's just a boring solid color with a polished wooden handle, but it feels very similar. I walk over to the training room and begin pounding on the targets, having fun smashing them to bits. Silver had told us before we came down here that all the targets are made to be destroyed. He said that they have countless replacements in a storage room. After a while, I finally get tired and walk over, putting the hammer away. 'I definitely need to bring my hammer next time. I shouldn't have left it at home to begin with.' I think to myself as I walk over to a drink station they had in a room down here. I walk up to the table and grab a cup, pouring myself a water, sitting down at one of the tables, taking a quick break to relax. Rouge eventually comes over to me, slightly out of breath and pours herself a drink, sitting down in front of me. "I destroyed the last target in there and someone said they're going to clean up the room and replace them. I offered to help, but they told me they volunteered for the job." I smile and take a drink before responding "At least you offered to help. I got tired, so I decided to stop and come get a drink. I like this place. There are so many friendly mobians here and there's so much to do. I feel like I'm at an amusement park!" I giggle and Rouge just quietly laughs taking another drink. Silver walks up to us and we turn to him "Are you two ladies enjoying the base so far? We tried building it with the idea of allowing all mobians to practice their skills for combat without being found out. I know you have much more experience with that than we do, so please let me, Mephy, or Mighty know if there's anything we should change or add." I think for a second before getting an idea. "You should have a large arena with robots to test actual combat scenarios. They had one at G.U.N. headquarters back in our dimension. It helped us prepare for the real thing sometimes." He smiles and nods "That's a great idea. Although, we don't exactly have many mobians who can build such complicated machines like combat robots." Rouge chuckles and speaks up "Well, now you have Tails. He has built and programmed many robots for G.U.N. before, and he can probably show the others how to build them." Silver smiles and nods "I'll definitely ask him then. We already have a lage empty room. We just weren't sure what to put in it so we just keep the door locked for now." Silver waves and says goodbye to us, walking the other direction, saying he's going to find Tails.
