Chapter 50: Aftermath

POV: Shadow

((I'm continuing with his pov bc I wanted it to be in either Sonic's or Shadow's, and I flipped a coin.))

I nod to the others and let out a sigh. "You can all go home now. I'm going to help Sonic home, we'll catch up later." Mephiles gives me a wink and turns to the rest "They need to talk, let's go and give them their privacy." Mephiles turns to me and gives me a knowing smile and I give him a small smile and nod in return as a 'thank you.' I watch as the rest leaves, and I turn to Sonic after a minute, giving him a nervous smile, with my ears lowered. "I know we just kissed.. multiple times, but I want to know if it meant anything to you, or if it was just.. you being happy that I snapped you out of it." Sonic turns to me with a smile and reaches up, gently grabbing my face, giving me another peck on the lips. "Shads. You're so clueless. Of course it means something to me. I think I might have liked you since the beginning. I only recently came to terms with it. Did.. did it mean something to you?" I chuckle "Absolutely. I figured out that I like you yesterday. That's the main reason I tried to get drunk. I thought there was no way you could, or should, like me back. I honestly only took a chance in kissing you because I remembered how much it shocks you when anything romantic or sexual happens. I had managed to pin.. Dark down and saw your eyes glimmer for a second, that's probably when you saw my face in the void." I grab his face gently with both of my hands and lean in, teasing him by brushing my lips against his. I feel him shiver and I pull away, chuckling before asking him a question that's been on my mind since the first kiss "Will you be my boyfriend, Sonic?" His eyes snap open and I watch as a blush adorns his face. He smiles and leans up, closing the distance between us, our lips colliding once again. He wraps his arms around my neck and I purr, deepening the kiss as I let my hands trail down and wrap around his waist, pulling him closer. After a few heavenly minutes, he pulls away, resting our foreheads together, slightly out of breath. I hear him begin to purr with me before he says in a whisper. "Yes. Of course I want to be your boyfriend." I smirk and pick him up as if he weighed nothing, his legs wrapping around my waist as I kiss him again passionately. I don't realise that i'm walking forwards until I push his back against the tree. I hear him let out a muffled moan and I chuckle, pulling away. "Ok, thats enough for now. I don't want to take things too fast." He pouts and nods "Yeah. I agree. I'm definitely not ready for that just yet. Let's just go home." I smile and give him one more quick kiss before I back away from the tree, letting him back down on the ground. He smirks at me and gives me a wink, making me blush slightly. "Well, now that I don't have to hide, wanna race home?" I shrug and smirk back "You're on." We take off towards the house, running through the woods before we reach the city. We smile as we pass cars and motorcycles, dodging a few vehicles that decided to merge, not even knowing we were there. We finally make it back home and Sonic reaches the door first, opening it with a chuckle. "Loosers first~" I roll my eyes and enter the house, seeing the group already there.

I watch as they all smirk at us, Rouge asking "What took you two so long?~" I roll my eyes and feel Sonic pull me in for a side hug "We're dating now." I blush at his bluntness and Rouge asks "Aww. Is this true Shadow?" I nod and cross my arms, not appreciating being embarrassed in front of all my friends 'I did it again. I called them my friends.. well I guess it's the unfortunate truth now.' Amy squeals "Aww yay. Now the only one left is Tails." I give her a confused look before I notice who she's sitting with. She's sitting snuggled up with that purple cat from earlier. I give her a smirk and chuckle "So. Who's this?" I watch as Amy blushes and the cat chuckles "My name's Blaze. I thought she was beautiful, so I went to ask her out after we left you two in the woods. Turns out she had the same idea and we said it at the same time." Rouge chuckles "It was adorable. They both started blushing." I chuckle "if you think that's adorable, you should have seen Sonic earlier. Stoic Hedgehog my ass. He was a blushing, purring mess when I kissed him." The group just collectively says "Awwwwww" and I smirk, glancing over at Sonic who is now beet red with his ears folded down. 'Heh, score.' He stammers out "Y-yeah, Well. Sh-shads was purring and blushing too!" I growl lightly and grumble out "Shut up, Hedgehog" He sticks his tongue out at me and I laugh, ruffling the top of his head. Tails just laughs at us and says "Well, I'm glad you two finally got together. We all figured it was going to happen sooner or later." The rest of the group agrees and I sigh. "Well, I'm going to go make us all dinner. I'm sure we all need the energy." I walk into the kitchen and begin gathering the food, Amy joining me after a few minutes. "So, now that you two are officially dating, I just wanted to say that I'm glad it's you who ended up with him. I know you'll treat him the way he deserves. You've been very sweet to him lately." I smile and turn towards her "He's also lucky to have a friend like you. I'm glad you were able to get over your feelings for him and move on. Just a fair warning though, I have unfortunately begun thinking of you as my friend, so if she hurts you, she will have to answer to me. I don't let my friends suffer." She chuckles and gives me a quick hug. I grumble, but hug back, breaking it off quickly. "Don't think that I will start allowing regular hugs though. I still don't like being touched." She chuckles and gives me a wink "Unless Sonic is doing the touching." I blush and growl weakly at her, turning my attention back to the food. She just giggles as a response, and starts helping me prepare the food.
