Chapter Thirteen

It's been a week that we've been here and tonight we have been invited to join The Wolfsbane Pack in a welcome party and I'm a little nervous. I'm not too big on huge events, but when I said I wanted to stay home my Mom and Billy both hounded me.

It wasn't nothing too fancy so we didn't have to dress up thankfully. It was just a bonfire where we could all drink and get to know one another.

I sighed and sluggishly slipping on a pair of black jeans, a black long sleeve shirt, and my black vans. The last thing I wanted was to wear something to get everyone attention so this will do perfectly. I slipped my phone in my back pocket and met my Mom and Billy outside my door.

"Oh, Merce. Why couldn't you wear something cuter like a dress?" She asked sadly.

Billy and I both looked at her like she was crazy causing her to scoff.

"Come my annoying ass children." She groaned.

We both laughed and caught up to her. She opted for the stairs to 'keep her young' and let's just say I am glad I wore deodorant. She was panting as we got to the ground floor making me smile.

"Come on, Mom. We're late."

She rushed to check her watch, then glared at me.

"No we're not. We have plenty of time." She stated.
"I thought you wanted to be early?"
"We will be." She smiled.

I raised my eyebrow at her and she smiled still.

"Fashionably late?" She questioned.
"Sure, Momma. Let's go." Billy chuckled.

We all walked out to the car where she handed him the keys, then pulled me to the back seat with her.

"So, I know you don't want to talk about it, but what's going on with you and that handsome Gamma?" She asked when we were half way there causing me to groan.
"He's an asshole."
"He's obsessed with her." Billy laughed from the front seat.
"Fuck off."
"Interesting." My Mother muttered smiling innocently.
"Leave it be. He's annoying. Thats it."
"Okay okay." She smiled putting her hands up in surrender.

I smiled at the sight of the party ready to get away from my Mother. I love her, but Goddess does she talk a lot. She wasn't always this bad, but since we moved here it's been crazy.

Billy parked the car, then shut the ignition off. As soon as I was out and shut the car door I started walking away.

"Wait for me, shit talker." Billy called out to me while helping my Mom out.

I stopped and waited for them both. When they reached me she gave us both a kiss on the cheek and left us.

"That was easier than I thought it would be."
"You really are a bitch." He laughed.
"Stop. You know how she has been lately."
"Yeah yeah. Whatever." He waved me off smiling.

We walked towards the fire where grills were lit and cooks were making food. There was also a refreshment table set up. Billy paused sniffing the air.

"What is that smell?" He asked curiously.
"It's either pork or chicken."
"No, not that. It's sweet and smells amazing." He stated still confused.

Welp there goes my Best Friend. He done found his Mate and now she won't let him talk to me. Does it count that my Mom adopted him? Probably not.

"Follow it."
"Come with me?" He asked nervously.
"No, go!"

He growled before sniffing again and walking away. I went to turn around but ran into the same blonde as before.

"Oh, Luna."
"We have to stop meeting like this." She giggled.
"I think it's quite unique." I smiled.
"How have you been, Mercy?" Hope asked smiling.
"I'm good. Mostly been running, swimming, or working out. How about yourself?"
"I'm doing great and that's good to hear." She smiled.
