Mercy

🦋

A smack sounded from behind me and I turned around to look at Ty who was looking at his hand annoyed.

"What was that about?"
"Damn love bugs." He cringed.
"They're harmless."
"They're annoying." He countered.

I just smiled, shook my head, and turned around to continue walking. We left our camp four hours ago and have been running nonstop only stopping to slow down every now and then to look around us for anything pointing us to Bash.

I was looking at the plants and bushes for any sort of foliage disruption. Not a lot of deer was in this area, we have only seen some rabbits which we happen to feed on. I haven't even seen any birds which was weird.

"Mercy!" Sasha called out from the distance.
"Yeah?!"
"Come over here and look at this!" She shouted.

I ran quickly to her side where Ty was squatting down looking at a piece of fabric. I squatted down next to him studying it. It didn't look familiar. I wish it was his..

"He was naked when he left. He shifted during the fight, remember?"
"But you guys also have a shit ton of tote bins filled with clothes surrounding your territory." Ty pointed out as I looked to him.

That thought didn't even register in my mind. I just starred at him, then looked down at the fabric. I finally moved closer and picked it up hoping.. praying even just a hint of my Mate's scent was clinging on to the fabric.

"Anything?" Sasha wondered softly after I pulled it away from my nose.
"Nothing.."

I dropped it back on the ground and walked on. I tried to look around for anything pointing to where that fabric could have came from. I continued to search the foliage for any tampering or disruption. I wasn't finding anything. The fact that it rained made it that more difficult..

I continued to pray to every single God I could think of, but all it led me to was laying next to another fire under the stars.

"Here, you need to feed." Sasha smiled handing me a cup of warm blood she just drained out of one of the rabbits we caught.

I sighed while taking it from her.

"Thank you."
"Of course." She replied back sweetly with a smile.

I looked down at the steamy cup and cried as a thought popped into my head. Was Bash able to eat or is he too hurt to hunt? Was he not just alone, but hungry too? It broke my heart even as I pushed the thoughts away. I can't think like that. I have to be strong for not just me, but him when I find him because I will find him.

After I finished my feeding, I placed my cup by my side and laid down looking up at the same moon I always look at. I used to howl up at her to show my appreciation for the live she gave me. Now I only sit back and stare..

I closed my eyes before the depression could hit and allowed the darkness to engulf me.

"Mercy, wake up!" Sasha rushed out shaking my quickly.
"What's going on?!"

I sat up quickly and looked around. Ty was packing everything into the bag Sasha brought in a speed even my eyes couldn't register.

"We have to go back, now!" She declared pulling me up to my feet.
"What happened?"
"They got him, Mercy. They found your Mate!" She smiled happily.

I froze. Was this some kind of joke or was she telling me the truth? I looked to Ty who was pulling a bag over his shoulder.

"Is this for real?"

Sasha sat on the ground next to my still frozen form and took my hands softly into hers. She looked me in the eyes as her smile stayed plastered to her mouth.

"This is real." She whispered in a tone that made me understand she was being honest.

I wanted to cry with tears of joy and break down at the fact that he was alive, but it was too soon. I can't celebrate yet until I see him and know for a fact that it's true.

Or until he sees me. The fear of his thoughts on my.. changing began to crawl up my spine again. I tried to shake it away like I normally would, but this time it wasn't possible. What would he think of me?

"Hey, stop over thinking it." She coo'd pulling me into a hug.
"How could you tell?"
"You wear your heart on your sleeve more than you think." She answered pulling back to look at me.

I looked to Ty who knew of my fears and he just smiled encouraging me to stand up and get home to my Mate, but there's just one problem.

"How are we getting back? It took us forever to get here."
"That's already been covered. We just need to get to that field a days trip back from the way we came. There will be a chopper waiting for us." Ty replied calmly.

A chopper? Like a helicopter? I've never rode in one of those before let alone seen one in person. Is it safe? Ugh, of course it's safe. The humans use them all the time. Wait.

"How did you guys get a.. chopper?"
"One of Finn's oldest Friends owed him a favor I believe." Sasha shrugged.
"Yeah, you could call it that." Ty scoffed as his whole mood changed.

He shook his head and motioned for us to follow along as we stood to our feet. Sasha and I shared a look as he took off. She shrugged as I raised a brow.

"I don't know what that was about, but I'm sure we'll learn about it later." She smiled.
"I'm not sure I want to know."
"Well, we have plenty of time to ponder what he meant on the run there." She said before disappearing to catch up with Ty.

I sighed while looking up to the still dark sky where the huge moon was. I thanked the moon goddess for watching over my lover before looking in the direction they left in.

I'm coming baby. Hold on a little bit longer I thought before taking off and catching up to them.
