Mercy
🦋
We have been searching for an hour now, but nothing could be found. I couldn't even find his clothes from where he shifted. It hasn't rained either so everyones scent was still here. Weak, but still there. I stopped when I came upon Cooper's body. I couldn't even look at his face for long. He was already starting to decompose.
I pushed forward and decided to try a new tactic. I walked to the spot that he kissed me last before he and my Brother asked Finn to compel me to sleep. I found the spot and looked around. The wind pretty much blew away any foot prints in the little bit of sand there was. The rest of the field was nothing but grass.
"Find anything?" Ty asked coming to stand next to me.
"This was the spot I seen him last. Where could he have gone from here?"
"What do you remember?" He asked looking around.Remember, Mercy. He spun me around and took my daggers from me, then kissed me. After that my Brother hugged me. Or did Billy hug me, then Bash? Shit. Wait!
"My daggers! He took my daggers from me. If he was alive my daggers would be with him."
I looked around to everyone that was still searching.
"Has anyone came across my daggers that Bash got me for my birthday?"
There was a collection of no's and shakes of head. Hope began to flourish inside of me.
"Why do you ask?" James wondered as him and the rest of the guys came to stand with Ty and I.
"Because he would have my daggers if he was alive. They're no where here."
"Someone from one of the other Pack's could have found them after the battle and took them though." Brian added.Nope. I refuse to believe that. He has them. I know he does. I just shook my head and turned back to the spot. I focused on all the scents around me while closing my eyes.
"I found it."
"Found what?" Finn asked.
"His scent."
"Let me smell." James stated coming near me and sniffing the air.It took him awhile, but he nodded his head looking to Brian. He smells it too. We all began following it while spread out. It was all over the place because of the fight. There is a chance we are probably smelling his steps before he had me compelled too. You can never be too sure.
"I don't know, Mer. I think this is all his scent from the battle." James stated hopelessly.
"I was thinking that too, but I still want to be sure."We follow it around the field for several more hours. At this point we were going around in circles almost bumping into each other every now any then. We are getting no where. Literally!
"I think we should call it a day and come back tomorrow." James called out.
"Alright, I'll see you guys later."
"What do you mean?" Brian asked confused by my words.
"I'm not leaving until I find a new trail."
"Mercy." Finn called to me sadly.
"No! You all are so quick to presume him dead. I'm not leaving these damn woods until I find my Mate."
"You need rest. You just went through transition." Brian stated worried for my health.I shook my head and kept moving.
"You guys go ahead and head back. I'll stay with her." Ty assured everyone.
"Are you sure?" James asked me.
"Yes."
"The Coven needs you, Sire. I can watch over her." Ty smiled coming to place a comforting hand on my shoulder.I smiled in thanks to him.
"You need to keep a close eye on her." Finn reminded him.
"I know, Sire. Plus this will be good for her. It will help her form a habit of drinking animal blood." Ty stated.
"Yeah. I really don't want to think of my fangs in my Mother's arteries every time I am near her."
