Sitting on the couch next to Hope, we wait until Brian, Janet, and Bash's top warriors to arrive that way we can go to the meeting room where James and Bash were currently at.
They invited us to come in with them, but truthfully we would rather wait. The whole rat thing has all three men in a mood and I just don't want to be around them unless I have to.
"Do you think Chandler was in on it?" She asked worried.
"I hope not. Baxter said he wasn't."
"He is a really good tracker. Would be a shame." She pouted making me smile.
"Wouldn't be a terrible loss if we found out he was. We don't need anymore spy's lurking around."
"How long do you think it will take before their Alpha comes creeping around?" She wondered.
"I'm not sure, but maybe James will go over that in the meeting."She sighed sitting back. I could tell she was bored and rather be at home baking something new for James to try. She can be very serious when it comes to her duties, but when the talk of war is brought up, she recoils into her home where she feels safe.
I can't blame her. I've never taken the life of anyone other than a Rouge so I can understand. These are Pack living people just like us. It doesn't make it easy, but knowing that my people are in jeopardy helps.
The door opened and Bash popped his head in signaling us that it was time with the nod of his head. As I stood Hope grabbed my hand as the anxiety began to bloom inside of her. I gave her a comforting squeeze and smile before following Bash down the hall. I felt so bad that she had to sit through this knowing how uncomfortable and scared it makes her.
The meeting room was full, way fuller than I expected it to be. The table itself holds eight chairs with the three empty seats waiting for Bash, Hope, and I. I sat down in my chair between Bash and Hope looking around. there had to be fifteen to eighteen people standing around us. This is going to be very serious.
All heads turned to James as he stood from his seat looking to each and everyone of us silently demanding our attention. I don't think I have ever seen him this serious before. Behind his eyes held a hint of worry as well. Should I be worried? Do I need to move my Mother into their Pack house?
"Listen up. I've been in contact with Baxter's Father's Alpha. His name is Kevin McWay. He claims to not know about this plan of theirs, but we all know that is bullshit. He wants revenge for his peoples death. Even after explaining to him that the leader of the Coven had killed them all for trespassing on his lands, he wouldn't believe we played no part in their death." He paused and I could tell he didn't say what was to come.
Hope squeezed my hand tightly and all I could do was silently comfort her by rubbing my thumb against the back of her hand.
"There was talk of retaliation and things got pretty heated over the phone. He didn't leave me with a day of an attack therefore as of now the Pack's are on lockdown and we are to stay on our toes ready for anything to happen." He stated strongly.
I looked to Bash as he looked to James. No one spoke as the bad news sank in except for one person which was Brian.
"When should I start to contact our allied Pack's?" He asked James.
"I already have. They don't want to risk coming here now until we know when they are to attack. The have enemies of their own to evade." He answered.I could understand that, but it made me worry more. This other Alpha, McWay could bring in more Pack's to aid him just because he wanted to and attack us without any warning. It could be two or more Pack's against us. Those are not very great odds.
