[3RD PERSON POV]

Ashton Irwin knows everyone in school, so when a cute boy in a crop top and mini skirt walked into the cafeteria alone during lunch, Ashton couldn't help but look at him. Ashton always sits alone but there have been times when people will try to talk to him. He always just ignores them though. But this boy suddenly got Ashton's attention.

Though there have been times when Ashton wanted to have a relationship with someone, he never made a move since he knew where it would end. Them getting into his pants and that being it. Therefore, he was scared and didn't want that to be the motive. But something about this kid makes him feel things, but thankfully his little friend in his pants hasn't said anything yet.

Throughout the whole lunch break, the boy went to the corner and was sitting on the floor. Ashton felt bad for him since the floor isn't clean but sitting at a table full of kids when you're new would suck too. He kind of wished the boy would come to his table, he wanted to know this boy.

As the warning bell rang, the cafeteria started emptying out, Ashton stayed.

And once the bell that means class started rang, there were only a few students left, most probably have spares like himself is what Ashton thought.

But the kid was still there. On the floor. Several tables were empty, but the kid didn't move. At least not yet.

After around 15 minutes, there were only around 10 kids left in the cafeteria. 8 of them on the other side, Ashton at a table alone and the new kid, who was walking towards Ashton.

Many things running through his mind, making his heart beat insanely and palms to start sweating. Why is he coming to me? He hasn't heard of me because if he did he'd be scared? Why me? Why now? Why not before? Who is he? God he's cute. Shut up Ashton. Just stop.

"Hi." said the boy, snapping Ashton out of his thoughts. But his voice, it was high pitched but also low pitched, it had a manly but childish touch to it.

"Oh um. hey." Ashton. C'mon. Be cool.

"Can I sit here?" the boy asked.

"Yeah, of course."

As the boy sat down, Ashton couldn't help but feel special that the boy chose his table, even with many being open.

Ashton: "By any chance, are you new here?"

Boy: "Yeah, I transferred here, I want my senior year to be better than at my old school."

Ashton: "You're also a senior?"

Boy: "Yeah, you too?"

Ashton: "Yep. So, what classes do you have?"

Boy: "Visual Art, Spanish, spare, Chem. That order. You?"

Ashton: "English, Math, spare, Chem. We have Chem together."

Boy: "And spare and lunch but those don't really count much."

Ashton: "True. What's your name by the way?"

Boy/Luke: "Luke. Luke Hemmings. You?"

That name was godly. And the way he said it, Ashton might be falling for Luke and they've only been talking for a few minutes.

Ashton: "Ashton. Ashton Irwin."

Luke: "That's a nice name."

Ashton: "Thanks."

And with that, both boys started doing some homework that their teachers already dared to give them. The silence was comfortable and the presence of each other was enjoyable.

And it only lasted until the end of class bell rang, meaning they need to get to their next class. Chemistry. God, Ashton's heart would probably rip his chest open because it means that he gets to be in the same class as Luke.

They packed up their things and quickly found their class together. The desks were set up in groups of two, Ashton went to the back corner and Luke followed, unsure if Ashton wanted him to sit with him.

Ashton: "Hey, it's okay, you can sit with me if you want. It's gonna be either you or some douchebag. It's a better option for us both, trust me."

Luke obeyed and sat down, secretly very happy that this tall, handsome and fit boy let someone like himself be with him. At least for now, and that's more than enough. The only thing that confused Luke was why Ashton was alone, but that's a question for another time.

Ashton: "You know, during lunch you can sit with me. The floor isn't clean."

Luke: "You sure? You don't have to offer if you're doing it because you feel bad. Trust me, I'm fine, the floor isn't that bad."

Ashton: "Aww. You really do seem like a cupcake."

Luke: "W-what?"

Ashton: "Oh shit. Goddamn it. Sorry."

Luke: "No, it's fine. I actually found that kind of cute. It's a nice thing to be called compared to other things. That is if you meant it in a nice way."

Ashton: "Of course I meant it in a-a good way. I-I just meant it that like you seem so soft and sweet and-"

Ashton got cut of when the teacher walked in.

Teacher: "Good afternoon everyone, I hope your first day has been good. I am Ms. Margonstle and I will be your Chemistry teacher. You better be happy with these seats because you will have them for the whole semester unless you are about to kill each other then I will make exeptions. Also, don't get on my bad side because I will not be afraid to fail you and keep you here longer than you want to be here."

With the last sentence, Ashton felt Luke tense up. As much as Ashton wanted to comfort Luke, he didn't know how. He comforts his siblings, but they're young and he just hugs them. But for some reason, Ashton thought because it's Luke it's worth a try. Not hugging him, just comforting. Why because it's Luke? They just saw each other for the first time like 2 hours ago and Ashton already has a crush and wants this boy, that is if this boy wants it too. Ashton decided to talk to Luke in an extremely quiet whisper, hoping the teacher wouldn't notice.

Ashton: "Hey, it's okay."

Luke: "I can't fail."

Ashton: "I'll help you."

Luke: "I'm good at Chem but... it's just that I can't get a bad grade okay?"

Ashton: "And if you do then I will help."

Luke: "Thanks Ash."

Ashton: "I hardly did anything, but you're welcome Luke."

The teacher kept talking about respect and class rules and expectations for the rest of the class. And throughout the rest of the class, Luke would catch Ashton sneaking small glances that were full of appreciation and desire, if that's what you could call it.

But Luke couldn't help but steal a few small glances at Ashton as well. Though neither of them could tell what the other was feeling and were both unsure.

Once the dismissal bell rang, the class stood up and left. Ashton and Luke said a quick goodbye and were off in opposite directions.

Ashton put in his headphones and while walking home all he could think about was Luke. He didn't need to pick his siblings up today, they were going to a friend's house and they all walked to school today. His perfect hair, his Godly voice, the way that he was so sweet, the way that he made him feel. Maybe things are moving too fast but Ashton couldn't help but have feelings for this boy.

He was going to protect Luke at all costs.

Luke is just a perfect cupcake.
