Amber eyes, dark and intense, stare at Sam unwavering. The way the boy's gray eyes glint with natural nerves when faced with people, the fidgeting of long, thin fingers on the leash, and how Sam shifts his feet are found adorable and precious to the strange man. He finds the smaller, slighter man cute. His thin, yet chubby and subtle curves, the light of his eyes and complexion, short height, and the inability to look him in the eyes. However unremarkable to Sam is undoubtedly beautiful to the stranger and, unknowingly to himself, is being gazed at like he's a fragile, porcelain doll.
All the amber-eyed man can think of is how good the contrast of that soft, bright white, nearly albino-toned skin would look against the natural dark olive of his own. It's adorable to find his stare unmet as the younger boy quietly calls his excitable boxer, trying to be respectful of neighbors. The older man smirks, considering what seems to be an already existing factor of submissive behavior. The boy doesn't hold eye contact when he accidentally catches the sharp eyes of the taller man, he's actively making himself smaller in his height or presence and his head is kept tilted down. Yes, amber eyes think, a precious little colt. Skittish and shy, but with training will become a beautiful obedient partner.
The twenty-six-year-old man has been searching for someone he could be with, someone to make happy, to care for. Someone who could depend on him. The short run-in at the elevator put the boy on his mind, now seeing the smaller one hiding behind his guard dogs just cements the thought of having him. Now, he just needs to plan out how to capture the skittish creature and keep on the animal's good side. He suspects it'll be decently easy, show genuine care or interest, and perhaps the younger man will be willing to give him a chance.
Maybe the other neighbors can give him some information to better help his chances. He could always go to the bakery his shirt has on it, with the excuse of trying some treats. As long as he could get the shy boy to consider him, he'll give the boy time to get used to him being around. Hopefully, time to get accustomed to him and being spoken to by him will help Sam come out of himself a bit. Even if the precious man doesn't capture as easily, the amber-eyed man is prepared to do whatever it takes. However, he would like to keep the harsher ways to himself rather than traumatize his neighbor.
As organically as possible, he wants to gain the trust of this man. Unless needed, he won't go to extremes. Especially with his job, one wrong move, and someone can catch him doing something he'd rather keep hidden. He is going to keep his boy away from the camera of his life, at least until he's certain Sam is aware he belongs with him. Sam, unknowingly, tempts the man when he bites at his bottom lip in the uncertainty and nerves of the new neighbor. He whispers for his dog, Orthrus, to come back and go for a walk. However, the boxer licks happily at thick fingers for attention, panting in excitement and wiggling his entire back end. The other two dogs prance just as excitedly, enjoying the attention of a stranger as they are pets and gaining praise from the amber-eyed man.
Sam sighs, tugging uselessly at the leash to get them to listen. While he agrees the man is attractive and seems nice, other than being generally loud, he doesn't want to contribute to the awkward conversation when he's so tired. He would if it was sunny and morning out, he's willing to socialize when other people are up and moving around. Yet, it's night time and he doesn't know the man, is uncomfortable with speaking to a stranger at night; in his apartment building or not.
He isn't sure what to do, be rude and snatch his dog back from the man or politely apologize and leave? He decides to be polite, his father would be disappointed if he was purposely rude to someone and he never wants his father upset with his actions. The man had raised him better than to be mean and tried his best to raise a responsible and polite son while his wife was busy working long hours. Sam's mother was a nurse, working the third shift and adding whatever hours were available to grab extra cash they could to survive.
