Throughout the night, after Spencer observes Robin defeatedly walk back to his car and drive away, Sam thinks. The fight had put relationships into perspectives, one's he hadn't wanted to open his eyes to fully. Being told by Spencer is one thing, but seeing it realized, in reality, had hurt him when they calmed and sat down to eat. He could handle Robin disliking his fiancé, it wouldn't be uncommon for people to simply not get along and he understood.

Attempted to refrain from mentioning Spencer most of the time to keep both of them comfortable, even when he wished to talk about the man and how he felt with him. It was okay. However, his co-workers' attitude has been increasingly concerning about Sam's relationship and while it troubled the baker, he hadn't wanted to pay attention to it. Too anxious, oblivious, to the exact reason Robin was continuously trying to influence his decisions on such a personal relationship that doesn't concern the man.

Spencer told him it was only them the couple could trust, that others were against them and would try to separate Sam from the man. He believed his partner on a certain level, yet there was hope they would be accepted and could trust others.

Now, after witnessing Robin, a man Sam considered to be a close friend, other than Charlie, start a fistfight with Spencer in an attempt to seemingly rip them apart. He only has one person to trust that isn't Spencer, his parents don't support them getting married by the argument they had, and Robin doing this; leaves Charlie left.

Sam has spoken to his long-time friend, but with Charlie in college, working and dealing with his family or his own relationships, they hadn't had much time to sit and have facetime sessions. Calling and texting as much as they are able gets them through, sending love and support to each other. The baker has yet to tell Charlie of his engagement, fearing a backlash.

Spencer encourages him to call the other man, assuring the younger that if the reaction is poor, they still have each other. 'All we need is us, alone. We don't need anyone else to support a relationship that doesn't involve them.' Sam believes the words, taking them to heart. They don't need outsiders, this is their relationship and he'll be just as happy with only Spencer in his life, along with his dogs. Humans are overrated anyway.

Calling Charlie sparks anxiety in his veins, clutching at Spencer's large hand to ground himself. The ringing lasted a mere moment, his friend answering the phone nearly instantly. "Sammy! Finally! I've missed your damn voice!"

Sam laughs, feeling the man beside him on the couch chuckle quietly as he glances over from the muted TV. The phone is on speaker, allowing Spencer to hear everything clearly. Leaning against the Youtuber, Sam responds. "Hi! I've missed you too! We wanted to tell you something, but I got distracted and couldn't do it sooner. Sorry."

"We?" Charlie pauses, "Oh! Hey, Spencer! My bad, I didn't realize I was on Speaker."

The man wraps his arm around Sam's shoulder, giving a brief greeting, keeping his eyes on the TV screen that is playing a youtube video. Deceiving the younger man into thinking he isn't paying attention to the conversation when he is. He wants to be confident he hears everything the two are discussing, in case he needs to step in. "Hey."

"So, what did you wanna tell me?" The man gasps, horrified. "I swear if you didn't send me a picture of a new puppy you got, I will end you!"

The baker giggles, rolling his eyes at the dramatics of his friend. "We didn't get a new puppy. But, um..." He hesitates, suddenly more nervous and he gains a supportive squeeze from the arm curled over him. "Spencer proposed to me and I said yes."

There's no response for a long moment, Charlie is shocked into speechlessness. The news was unexpected to him, having had a thought that Sam would eventually scare himself out of the relationship or get spooked off. He is incredibly proud of his best friend for making it so far in a romantic partnership, knowing it was so far out of the man's comfort zone. While Charlie is aware it is possibly too soon for marriage, he is also aware that Sam is looking for a supportive response. Having been friends for so long, he has learned when to detect certain calls to determine if his friend is anxious or not.
