A month passes in wonderful bliss for the couple. Sam loves the new addition of the cage, spending time in it to decompress after school or work. Spencer sits directly at the door, soothingly talking and assisting him into a peaceful, puppy, state of mind. The cage is helpful to get into his Headspace, as well as come out of it. Going in to lay down on command after playing with the man in the playroom with the leash, or his toys, to relax and let himself be coaxed out into a regular mindset.

Spencer doesn't allow his boy to go in unsupervised, always there with a time limit. He times how long Sam has been in the cage and once it goes over fifteen or twenty minutes, he has the baker climb out. He isn't comfortable with the idea of Sam getting sore from staying curled up in a position, no matter that he makes certain to remind him to move and massages his limbs during aftercare. The man was slightly surprised when Sam politely asked for more time, giving an hour as an example of what he wanted.

At first, Spencer said a stern no. Long periods in the cage may not be healthy, both physically and mentally. However, Sam convinced him to a compromise. They add ten minutes every other day, giving both of them time to get accustomed to the increased time. Spencer checks on his boy every ten minutes, wanting to be certain he is feeling good. They've tried different things with the cage; Sam shyly asked if he could try eating in it.

He had to give examples to his boyfriend of what, exactly, he meant and it made the boy go a bright scarlet. He had asked to be given something on a plate and a bottle of water, requesting to simply eat inside the cage as a pet does sometimes. Spencer was sure not to give him anything that would be messy, going with mac and cheese on a plate and sitting to watch. Questioning Sam on this, he had only given that he enjoys being the man's Puppy and wanted to explore what other things he liked.

Turn's out, Sam adores eating in his cage with his Master sitting nearby. So much so, that Spencer surprised him with a customized bowl, one that at first glance looked like a dog bowl. It's blue and has Sam printed on the side in neat bold letters with stickers of paw prints and cakes that Sam added. The boy loved it, asking to use it immediately. He doesn't eat out of it like an animal, using forks or spoons, but Spencer has noticed him curiously trying to eat without the utensils to see if he could.

The Youtuber lets Sam explore by himself, it's healthy for him to figure out what he enjoys and what he doesn't. Whenever they use the bowl, Spencer adds a spoon or fork every time, to give his boy options and show he can use them if he wishes. It works for them, they're happy with this, and Spencer is pleased with the progress they've made.

There's only one major thought lurking, festering, in his mind. Furthering this relationship, taking the ultimate step into making Sam purely, only, his. To have a claim on the baker that means much more than the term boyfriend. That implies they can break up, another man could feel like he could steal Sam away. There's only one accepted term in society that scares away most men, most single people. Husband. When one has a Husband, men scatter away. Fearing being caught, scared of the claiming ring on a finger.

A marriage will signify Sam is his in every legal way; papers signed and sealed that mark them as an official, legal couple. Sam couldn't leave him without going through the hassle of courts and divorce if he tried. It'd be the last step in his possession of Sam, no one would have the right to come between them. Not without a really good, serious reason.

With these thoughts guiding him, Spencer looks into engagement rings online for two weeks. Contacting a jewelry store and speaking to an expert on which ones would be practical to wear for a baker, in price range and size for them. Eventually, with a few calls and messages sent back and forth between him and the expert, he makes an appointment to meet at the store to make a decision.
