Operation: Get Cyrus To Like Me (Name In Process)

*Third Person POV*

There stood Brynleigh Pasternack, clad in stylish outfit that consisted of a common black dress and her overworn Doc Martens that she insisted went with every outfit. She picked the gray sweater that her boyfriend, Cyrus, had asked for. Cyrus hastily pulled the sweater over the button up he had on already, picked up his bag, and turned around to tell his girlfriend one last thing before he left the conversation.

“No”

Which resulted in Brynleigh following Cyrus as he finished getting ready and angrily telling him once again all the reasons why he should be helping Adam on his first day at normal high school. The only knowledge that Adam had of how to act was based off of intense hours of research of Disney Channel Originals. Although that was enough for Adam to feel confident, it was not as satisfactory for Brynleigh. He had already written and choreographed a song that fit the themes of the movies to sing during lunch. He titled it ‘A Truer Me’.

This resulted in Cyrus trying to tell Brynleigh that he already had enough responsibilities at school without having to take care of a guy that tried to drown him for funsies. But Brynleigh didn’t let him get a word in. All of this culminates in a harshly whispered fight between the pair, quiet enough that Monica and James Anders couldn’t hear them. Subsequently ending in Brynleigh telling Cyrus she had already signed him up to show the new student around and introduce him to clubs. Cyrus audibly gasped at the betrayal. 

Meanwhile upstairs, Adam was slicking his hair back with some water to try and achieve a ‘simple three second hairstyle for guys’ that he had found on TikTok after Badger had made him download it. He was most definitely sure he had messed something up. He kept asking himself ‘How do you mess up a simple three second hairstyle you idiot?’ Those thoughts weren’t much help to the process. So he simply dried his hair and went back to his room to practice the choreography for his song. He was very proud of it, it held a very special meaning for him. He had combined the styles of Disney Channel Original movies and the music of an artist that he liked. He had heard her music coming from Holiday’s room a lot. He was pretty sure her name was Mitski, if he remembered correctly. Considering his robot memory, he probably did.

Adam tripped over his feet when he heard a loud knock, almost a bang, sound from his door. This was followed by a not so happy looking Cyrus walking into his room and unplugging his music. Adam knew that Cyrus didn’t like him, but he supposed he understood the hostility. The more and more he remembered his past life the more and more guilt was built up within him. Most everyone had forgiven him except Cyrus. Cyrus was usually nice to him and all, but he wasn’t blind to the way Cyrus tensed up when he walked in the room. The way he forced laughs for Adam’s jokes but gave a full hearted laugh if someone else said the same thing, the way he moved just slightly away when Adam sat next to him or stood near him. Just the way it was so abundantly obvious Cyrus wasn’t comfortable around him. Adam hoped that one day he could fix the strained relationship they had. But that might take a while considering he had kidnapped Cyrus and tried to drown him, among other things.

“Look, today is going to be very miserable for the both of us. Brynleigh offered me up to show you the school and stuff, so please hurry up and get ready because the first two periods of the day are just going to be me showing you your classes and other important places. Then we’ll have to sit together at lunch, and after school I have to show you clubs and extracurriculars. So buckle up for a day we are both going to hate. And please, for the love of everything good, don’t sing or dance at lunch. Or at all for that matter.” Adam nodded with a happy smile on his face as Cyrus was already exiting the room. Would this be a long day? Yes. Would this also be a perfect opportunity to be around Cyrus and get him to like Adam? Also yes.
