Tus Labios

*Third Person POV*

Cyrus tried to calm himself down as he heard all the fans begin to pour into the stadium where he was performing. He had known that there would be more people there than there ever had been at any of his shows, but he still felt a bit overwhelmed as all of the fans started to come in and get loud. He wasn’t sure what to do when he was notified by one of the staff that he would be on in five minutes.

He was supposed to be opening for Taylor Swift, which was a very big thing to do. He wasn’t sure why he had been hired for this because he was a much smaller artist than her, but he had been blowing up a bit lately. So, that was probably the reason. Especially people on TikTok who have been using his songs a lot recently.

Taylor was still back somewhere getting one of her outfits on, and he felt lucky that his outfit was a simple one to get on. Though the simplicity of his outfit did make sense, it was just a black button-up and loose dress pants. He only had a couple of his more popular songs set up to be done. Hopefully, the audience would like them.

He would be starting with a more upbeat song called ‘Catch’. Then he would move into one of his sad songs, his specialty, which was ‘Perder El Aliento’. That would be followed by his song, ‘Noche y Dia’. Finally, he would sing his most famous song as of right then, ‘Tus Labios’, a love song.

Overall, he felt pretty good about his lineup. He had been unsure about adding his songs that were a mix of English and Spanish because he was unsure that the crowd would know how to sing along to them, ‘Catch’ was the only song he was singing that was in full English. But Taylor had insisted they were his best songs and also would match the energy of the concert really well. Meaning that he was currently gearing up for his best songs in his two best languages.

Two minutes to go, he looked out of the curtain flap a bit to see his sister close to the stage. Both of his sisters, Holiday and Birdy, had been given basically free tickets to this show because of his part in the performance. Some of his friends, Bruce, Badger, Casey, Cam,  and Magnus, were also there. But they were farther back because they had to pay full price. Still, his current girlfriend, Brynleigh, was backstage and would stay with him there. He still felt glad that they had all wanted to come, even if it did make him a bit more nervous than usual.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to see a different staff member telling him that it was time for him to get on stage. He quietly thanked her and walked out on stage. His ears were immediately assaulted as it seemed every person in the stadium began to scream at the tops of their lungs. He just laughed it off and tried his best to tell jokes while he put his guitar strap over his shoulder.

He wasn’t sure how much air these people had in their lungs, but they sure could scream. He tried to hide his shaking as he put his head to the microphone and asked how everyone was doing, which made the noise go up by twenty notches. Afterward, he laughed and introduced the first song, getting ready to play and sing. He took a deep breath.

“Hey, you guys know how to play catch right.” He cringed at the cheesy line but still began to strum his strings.

Throwing stone after stone,

Thought after thought,

Making a whole new song,

The rhythm you never caught.

The people continued to yell towards the stage as they all knew the lyrics, and they continued on throughout the song. Following the simple beat that was laid out in the song, it made it easy for everyone to catch onto. Cyrus smiled out at everyone, happy that they had chosen the vibrant tune to start with.
After the finishing beat was done, he laughed and told everyone they were great singers. He still wasn’t sure what he was doing on stage, but it felt nice. After everyone seemed as calmed down as they would get from that song, he made a joke about the sadness of the song he was about to start on.
