Chapter 12: Percy

Nico was having nightmares.  Some God or Goddess has been giving them to him. And the nightmares are bad.

I decided I needed to help. After my sword practice with Nico, it was lunch. I sat with Annabeth, Will and Nico sat down together. The romans have already left. Piper and Jason sat down. 

I told Annabeth what was going to happen tonight.

"Be carful seaweed brain," she said.

"I will," I replied.

After lunch, I trained some more. It was a long day, full of anticipation for the night.  

Finally, the dinner horn blew. We ate dinner, then Nico, Will, and I went to the Hades cabin.

The Hypnos kid was already waiting outside. "Okay Nico, lay down," He said.

Nico laid down. The Hypnos kid put his hand on Nico's head. Nico started snoring, then shaking.

"He has very bad nightmares," The Hypnos kid said. "You guys be carful. He might be tricked and accidently hurt you. If you die in his nightmare, you are still dead. Are you ready?"

"Yes," Will and I said at the same time.

The Hypnos kid placed his hands on us. Then I went to sleep.

I woke up to a house. Two kids were running around. In the corner I saw another kid. Nico.

Will and I walked over to him. Nico gasped.

"It's okay," Will said. "Remember the plan?"

"Yeah, I remember now."

I heard a high pitched scream coming from a woman. A lightning bolt had just struck. Zeus' lightning bolt. The kids were protected, and I could tell they were Nico and Bianca. 

Will walked up to Nico and held his hand. In the windows, I could see a figure moving. Morpheus. 

I ran to the door and busted it open, pinning Morpheus down. "What are you doing?" Nico called.

"You can't see him, but we can, remember. Morpheus is doing this to you. But why?"

Morpheus struggled, but he was not a fighter. He finally stopped struggling. 

"Why are you doing this?" Will growled.

"Z-Zeus sent me to do this. Let me go!"

"Why would Zeus want to give Nico nightmares?" I wondered.

"I just showed you. He was upset that Hades had children, so he tried to kill them. But he only killed the mother, causing him to become irritated with Hades. And when one of his best mortal friends died a week ago, he asked Hades to bring him back to life. But Hades couldn't do that. So he decided to torcher Hades' only son. Nico di Angelo."

Nico wasn't hearing this, so I repeated it back to him. "So for the last few weeks, you've been giving me these awful nightmares? I know you can hear me!"

"I-I have. I would be sent to the Tartarus if I didn't."

I repeated it back to Nico. "Can you stop?" He asked.

"No, if I do, I would be sent to Tartarus. You know that it is an awful place."

"Then how about we send you to Tartarus first," Will said.

"Please d-don't. I would hate for that to happen."

"Then leave Nico alone!" Will yelled at Morpheus.

"Y-yes. Zeus will find other ways though." 

He vanished. 

The nightmare was starting to fade, making a big Jar. Nico was trapped in it.

"I thought Morpheus said he would leave you alone," Will said.

"He left. It's not as bad now. It will be back to what it was before, just me sitting in this jar. I still have nightmares," Nico said.

The jar cracked open. "I'm waking up," Nico said.

The ground started to dissolve, waking us up. This had been a long night.
