"Where have you been, man? Mira's been looking for you," Landon looked annoyed. However, it wasn't because of me. It was probably because of Stacey, who was slung over his shoulder.
Stacey drunk and being carried was the least of my worries at the moment. Mirabelle coming to look for me was my main priority. I would not be shocked if Landon told me my ears were extra perked up at the mention of her name.
"Mirabelle?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "She came looking for you, and I told her you were probably upstairs. But then I saw her running out of the house some minutes after."
I cocked my head in confusion. Why would she run out? Did she see something she wasn't meant to? Even if she did, Mirabelle wasn't one to care about what people were doing.
"How long has it been now?" My mind was racing with anticipation, wondering what she had come to see me for. Did she want to have a good conversation with me, or did she come to call me out? The possibilities seemed endless.
My heart pounded faster, brimming with elation at the mere thought of seeing her again. I was such a shameless man when it came to Mirabelle.
However, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness wash over me. What if things had changed between us? What if she didn't feel the same way? These thoughts raced through my mind, but I quickly pushed them aside. I knew that no matter what had happened, I couldn't let this opportunity slip away, I had to let her know how I felt.
He shrugged. "About fifteen minutes. I gotta take Stacey home, man. Go get Mira, okay?" He patted my shoulder before walking away.
I found it hard to contain my emotions within myself as my mind raced with possibilities of what this could mean. My excitement grew with the thought of seeing her and what she might have to say.
I knew that this excitement could be fleeting and that there was a possibility that this might not be what it seemed. While I hoped for the best, I also prepared myself for disappointment.
"Listen up!" I climbed onto the stool that was near me to call out for people's attention. "I'm about to go get my girl!"
Everyone cheered, and I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. As soon as I got down from the stool, some began patting my back and wishing me good luck. As I was making my way through the crowd, Ana and Eric came towards me and squashed me in between them.
Eric's hair was rough, and he reeked of someone who had just finished having sex. He never ceased to amaze me with how much sex he has and with different people too. Turning to look at Ana, who was clinging to my left arm, her appearance wasn't different from that of my brother. It was clear they just finished having sex.
"Where are you running off to, brother?" Eric's voice was a bit slurred, but he didn't reek of alcohol to say he was drinking.
"I just need some fresh air," I tried pushing him off my arm, but it was no use.
"Come on," Ana whined from my left side, and I looked down to see her pouting. "The party hasn't even started."
"I-" Before I could speak, Eric pushed his red cup to my mouth.
"Here, drink this." I looked at what was in the cup as he kept shoving it in my face. Reluctantly, I took the cup from his hand and downed the liquid down my throat. It didn't burn like some drinks, but it had a weird taste to it. I was never sceptical about whatever Eric offered me to drink because he was my brother, and I trusted him wholeheartedly. "It's called Ana's special."
