Mirabelle Morrison

With a contented sigh, in Terrence's arms that provided a sense of security, I chose to focus on the positive aspects, cherishing the moments of growth and joy that I had experienced during the past nine years.

One of the significant milestones was my academic journey. I studied business management and finance. The knowledge and skills I gained during my studies shaped my understanding of the corporate world and ignited a passion for entrepreneurship. I didn't fail to recount the challenging yet rewarding moments in my classes, the late-night study sessions with friends, and the exhilaration of successfully completing my degree.

I also talked about the middle-class companies I worked for. Although I had good results, I realized that I needed connections to get into the high-class companies. I spoke about the various internships and part-time jobs I undertook. I spoke candidly about the hardships I encountered, such as struggling to make ends meet, working multiple jobs to support myself financially, and navigating the complexities of budgeting and saving in a place where I had no relative.

"I'm grateful for everything that has led me to this point," I whispered, my voice filled with gratitude. "And I'm grateful for you, Terrence."

He pressed a tender kiss against my temple, his voice a mere whisper in my ear. "I'm grateful for you too, Mirabelle. But I don't think you should be grateful to me, I made you cry."

"That's true," I chuckled. "But then I wouldn't have met Emily if I hadn't left."

I spoke of Emily, my closest friend whom I had met during my time at university. Sharing stories of our adventures, laughter, and shared moments of support, I cherished the bond we had formed. Emily had been my pillar of strength during challenging times, and our friendship had become an essential part of my journey.

When I found myself in a difficult situation of losing my apartment due to financial struggles, Emily stepped in without hesitation. Her generosity and compassion shone through as she offered me a room in her own place. I recounted the nights we spent together, sharing laughter and stories, cooking meals, and providing each other with emotional support.

Despite the immense gratitude I felt for Emily's support, I didn't want to become a burden on her for an extended period of time. She was against the idea of me coming back home, but what could I do? I had lost my job and was a freeloader as I depended on Emily for almost everything. With the little savings I had, I knew I had to come back home to where things were relatively cheaper.

With a soft smile, I slightly turned my head to Terrence and whispered, "Emily's friendship has been a true blessing in my life. I don't know what I would have done without her. And for that, I'll forever be indebted to her."

He returned my soft smile with understanding and warmth in his eyes. He gently squeezed my hand, silently conveying his support and appreciation for the bond I had with Emily.

"I'm glad you have someone like Emily by your side," he said softly, and I nodded in agreement before returning my gaze to the lake. "So, when do I get to meet the legendary Emily?"

I couldn't help but chuckle at Terrence's question. With a mischievous glint in my eyes, I turned to him again and replied, "Oh, you want to meet Emily, huh? Well, I must warn you, she's quite the character."

He leaned in, his curiosity piqued. "Tell me more. What do I have to look forward to?"

I couldn't contain my amusement at his enthusiasm. "Alright, but I must warn you, she might challenge you to a dance-off. She believes she's the reigning champion of spontaneous dance battles."

His eyebrows shot up in surprise. "A dance-off? Well, I must admit, my dance moves are not exactly award-winning material."

"Oh, crois-moi, je sais." I laughed. Oh, trust me, I know.
