The only sound that was being heard were the crickets slowly making their own special noise as I exited my cabin. I closed my door behind me gently, not wanting to wake anybody up. My eyes looked around for any "guards". Peter put five Lost Boys on watch every night so that they could alert everybody in case of danger or a threat. How come you know that you may ask? Well, let's say I've tried to escape at night a few times. Without positive result of course.

Taking a deep breath as I didn't see anybody in this area, I sprinted towards the exit of the camp where the only path that lead towards the lake was.

"Shit!" I whispered as I hid behind a cabin.

There were two Lost Boys standing by the exit. They didn't move so I couldn't slip past the one and then another, so I had to find a new plan.

I walked to the cabin closest to the exit and pressed my hands against my mouth before making a weird bird noise. My mother had taught me this when I was younger. She used to learn me survival tricks and we often went camping so that I could use them and see how everything worked. In case I needed it.

Well, this looked like one of those cases.

My sound made both boys look over to the cabin I was hiding at. I made the noise again and watched as one looked at the other.

"What was that?" Coil asked.

I recognized his voice since I listened to it every day in the garden. He was a talker and could not shut up.

"I donnae know. Why donnae ye go look?" Replied Bill. His Scottish accent made me recognize him too.

"Why me?" Coil whined.

"Because I gotta keep watch. And ye are tougher than me." He said.

"That's not true and you know that!" Coil kept on protesting.

"Just go already! Before I shove this stick up yer crack." Bill answered, pointing to the stick he was holding.

Coil swallowed hard and I covered my laugh before pressing myself against the wall of the cabin. I watched his shadow come closer before he turned the corner. That's when I struck. I elbowed him in his face before kneeing him in his stomach. Coil stumbled bachwards and that's when I hit him on his head with a thick branch that I had found nearby.

"I'm sorry Coil." I whispered as I looked down at his unconsious body. I then hid behind some bushes, waiting for Bill to come look for him. Which he eventually did.

"God dammit Coil!" He hissed as he kneeled down beside his body.

That's when I took the opportunity to escape, I ran out of the bushes and towards the exit. I heard Bill stand up and yell something but it was already too late.

"You're late." Ariel stated.

She sat on a rock with her arms crossed over her chest. Her tail glistened in the silver moonlight. It was breathtaking but at the same time weird.

"Anyway, you need to get out of here. It's not safe for you and you do not belong here." Ariel spoke up again, snapping me out of my trance.

"You're right and I totally agree with you but I will not leave until I have answers." I agreed.

Ariel sighed, massaging her temples.

"Jade, have you listened to anything that I just told you?" She asked.

"Yes, and I told you that I agree with you but I want answers. You know my name and nobody else on this island does." I replied.

Silence filled the small opening where the lake lay as Ariel thought of her next actions. I kept my gaze fixated on her, watching her every movement and breath.

"Alright. But I will only tell you so much, this is not my story to tell. You'd do well to remember that." She finally gave in.

"Then who's story is it to tell?" I asked.

"Pan's."

"Pan's? What does he have to do with this?" My eyebrows furrowed as I stared into her eyes.

"Everything." Ariel answered.

I lifted my head slightly, my eyes never leaving the mermaids' eyes.

"Then tell me how you know my name." I spoke up.

"I'm a mermaid, I know everything about everyone on this island. Even the newcomers. Besides, you remind me of someone I used to know. She was stubborn yet brave, just like you." Ariel explained.

I huffed. I reminded everyone of someone....even here.

"Who?" I questioned.

"You'd have to ask Pan that."

I pursed my lips.

This wasn't working. I got answers for my questions but at the same time, my mind filled with more and more questions. It was so mysterious.

"How can I start talking to Peter about this subject? Will I risk the chances of him trusting me?" I asked.

"Well if you ask him directly then yes. Let some time pass, let him trust you more but let his suspicion fade away. You do not want him to immediately lose his trust in you as he has started to look at you as one of them." Ariel replied.

"Will I ever get off this island?"

"I'm a mermaid, not a seeress." Ariel replied, rolling her eyes.

I stayed quiet for some time. Not knowing what to ask. She would just fill my head with questions. I had to talk to Peter about this.

"Okay, now tell me why you wanted to meet me here tonight." I closed my interrogation with these last words.

"I just wanted to let you know that there's a great danger lurking at you. You're not safe on this island and I'd suggest you to stay close to the ones you trust. But remember this, Jade, never trust anybody here fully, you never know how they can surprise you in the most painful ways. An example was Amanda today. She wasn't supposed to attack you like that and try to drown you." Ariel explained.

"Yeah, what was up with that?" I asked.

"She was under the influence of something. Something dark and evil. That's why I'll try to make a deal with Tink, tell her to keep you safe. She is the only person you can trust at the moment, and put this advise in your head Jade. Also, don't you dare to show your true identity to anyone, even Tinkerbell. I have my reasons to tell you this. Do not show anything." And with that, Ariel jumped into the water, disappearing from the surface under the black water.

My feet ran as fast as they could, the wind blowing in my hair and pushing it in my face. Tears stained my cheeks and my lungs were burning. I stopped outside the gates and took a few deep breaths before walking inside. I knocked on the door and not much later it opened.

"Felicity? What are you doing here at this time of the night?" Tink asked shocked.

"Have you been crying?" She asked concerned.

"Tink." I breathed out.

Tink stared into my eyes with worry before nodding her head.

"I want you to do me a big favour." I ordered.
