JADE
"Come on you idiots! Pull harder!" Yelled Peter as a row of Lost Boys pulled the rope.
I stood a few feet away from the broken cabin, watching as the Lost Boys tried to make a wooden wall stand. It was the cabin Zen had ruined when he fought with Izermo and fell into the camp.
"And you tell me you train every day? Maybe we should be more strict with your programms and take it up a notch!"
I sighed and rolled my eyes. Ever since Zen's reappearance Peter has changed. He's back to the cocky, evil boy that I first met when I arrived on Neverland. Bossing everyone around, acting like a good leader when in reality, he's just gone mad.
My mother has tried talking to him, she's the only one that can bring him back to his senses, but, it didn't work."He might be going through a phase. He'll get over it soon." She explained but I could see hesitation in her eyes as she said the words.
The bad thing was, that I still hadn't told Peter about my encounter with his former friend. I knew all too well what his reaction would be and especially in this state, the punishment wouldn't only be harsh on me but also on Zen.
"Can't you just talk to him again? Maybe he'll listen this time." I said to my mother who stood next to me.
"I've already tried two times, Jade. If I ask him again all hell would break loose. I remember that from my experience." My mother sighed, resting her arm upon my shoulders and pulling me close.
"Why are you so eager?" She asked.
I gulped.
Neither Peter nor my mom knew about my conversation with Zen since I hadn't found the perfect timing to tell them yet, and with Peter's attitude, I'm not sure I would find it soon.
"I have something to tell him but I know he'll exaggerate the whole thing." I said, not daring to look at her.
"Oh...well, if you want you can tell me and I'll try to bring it to him softly." My mother suggested.
"Uh no, it's alright. I can wait." I shrugged, trying to seem casual when in reality, I was mentally screaming.
My act didn't convince her though and she continued to push.
"Sweetie, if it's not that important you can tell me. He won't push it, I'm sure."
I scratched the back of my head, avoiding eye contact. Maybe this was the good timing to tell her...maybe she wouldn't blow up and scold me.
"I talked to Zen about the problems with Shadow."
"You did what?!" My mother yelled angrily.
She glanced around her as she turned a few heads with the tone of her voice.
"Come with me." She growled through gritted teeth before pulling me with her behind a cabin in the back of the camp.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! Don't you have enough nightmares and bruises haunting you already from that bastard?! What do you want to happen to you before you realize he's dangerous?!" My mother yelled at me, causing me to flinch.
Okay....she was mad. Really, mad.
"I don't know! I just....he has been tortured by Peter for the past two days and Peter's orders are so strict. No water or food? That's too much, we want Zen alive to confront him not half dead!" I argued.
"So what? You thought caring for him would be better? Treat him like a guest?" My mother shouted.
"No! Look, I know that I out of all people shouldn't do this but I needed some answers. I needed to clear some things out....and if I hadn't done what I did, I wouldn't have the answer to the Shadow problem." I explained.
