°JADE!

My chest heaved and lowered itself as I took deep breaths. My body relaxed and my eyes stared down. The gun in my hand was secured back in it's socket. A cold raindrop landed on the tip of my nose, causing me to look up at the grey sky. It was starting to drizzle and that's when I moved, backing away from the fifth creature I killed today.
After my fight with Zen and my two killings, I tried to return back to the clock where everyone else would be gathered, but I got caught up in a few other fights with creatures that crossed my path. If only Zen and the rest could see how I managed to manouvre around the monsters, beating them up before killing them. I was in top condition.

Turning around, my eyes landed upon Granny's Diner and a light feeling of joy build up inside me. The drizzling slowly turned into rain and I had to stay somewhere to keep myself from getting wet. So I jogged towards the diner, bursting through the door after checking quickly to see if the coast was clear of monsters. Closing the door behind me, I let out a big sigh. I opened my eyes and started walking towards the counter. There were donuts on a tray and I heaved the glass that stood over them, like some sort of dome, up to grab one.
A moan left my lips as the sweet taste filled my mouth.

God, I've missed Granny's donuts so much.

I thought and dug in, eating another one.

Suddenly, an arrow hit the counter, breaking through the wood close to me. I looked up in shock, drawing my dagger out of my belt and held it in front of me, protectively. My eyes focused on the door that led to the kitchen and I was ready to attack whatever creature lured behind there. The door opened once more and I gripped my dagger tightly, preparing myself for what was to come, but instead of a creature, Granny walked through the doors.

"Jade?" She whispered.

"Granny." I breathed out.

We stared at each other for a bit before I dropped my dagger and flew into her arms.

"Oh dear, it's so good to see you!" Granny said as she hugged me tightly.

"But don't you dare sneak in here again like that, I could have killed you!" She added, pulling away to get a good look at me.

"I'm sorry. I thought the coast was clear and I needed shelter from the rain." I replied, smiling slightly.

"You're wearing a belt with...bullets. And a gun!" Granny stated, flabbergasted.

"Yeah. Who would've thought that huh? The girl that was against fighting is now wearing guns and daggers, taking on monsters." I nodded.

Granny shook her head in disapproval, gently pushing me to a bar stool, making me sit.

"Have you seen mom?" I asked.

"Yes I have, dear. They're all in the library. Near the clock." Granny explained.

"Why aren't you with them?" I questioned, confused.

"Well eh, the people were getting hungry. And your parents didn't bring enough food to feed them all so I came here to get some boxes and feed the few people who have no food." She explained.

"But why are you alone? I thought your mother said you went to search for survivors along with two other boys." She asked.

I looked down at my hands that rested in my lap. Sadness filling ny heart as I thought back on this morning's events.

"They're dead. A creature got them when we tried to save this fairy. Shayla. I was saved by another Lost Boy." I informed her.

Granny gasped in shock.
