"You're really quiet." Deborah said on their way to the diner.
"Didn't sleep well. Been having a lot of headaches."
"Sorry to hear that."
"Had a fight with the wife too."
"Oh."
"I don't know why I'm even telling you this. Something about that fight reminded me about something you said."
"Which was?"
"About how July was, interested in money only. First was the big house, now she wants me to take a job as an executive in her father's company, which I don't know anything about." Deborah placed her hand on his.
"I'm sorry. I don't know her. I just told you what you had said to me once about her."
"I would've never married someone like that. I love my simple life. My cozy cabin, my job at the diner. Simple. Honestly, I hate the new house." He said laughing.
She smiled at him and looked out the window as they reached the diner. They got out and went inside. People waiting outside greeted her happily. "Deborah." Carl came and picked her up and swung her in the air. "When Shawn told me you were back I couldn't believe it."
"I'm back." She said as he put her down.
"Go set up while I finish opening up." Shawn told them.
"I hope you can help him get his memories back. You need to get him away from that witch."
"Carl, they are married, with a son and another baby on the way. I'm not going to break up a family. I'm here to find my family."
"Yeah, Shawn told me that. Any guesses on who they could be?"
"No idea. But I won't stop looking until I find them."
Around three 'o clock, Deborah was in the back taking her break, when Wilma walked in. Shawn looked around nervously. "Hi, honey."
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
"Can I come see my son? I still own this place too, you know?"
"Yes, mom."
"So, what is this I heard about a fight?" She said sitting in a stool in front of him.
"She called you?"
"You hurt her feelings, Shawn. We raised you better than that."
"How did I hurt her feelings?"
"She's pregnant, Shawn, you have to watch the way you speak to her. I heard Anthony offered you a position at his company."
"Don't worry, I said no."
"Why, son? It would be a great opportunity."
"Are you crazy, mom? This is my place. This diner is my life."
"Your wife is used to a certain lifestyle. Now it's your job to provide it for her. So, you are going to call Anthony and take that job."
"I can't believe you. You know that's not who I am. And she knew that's not who I am before she married me. I'm not going to change. So she's stuck with me like we are or I can pack my things and leave."
"Are you listening to yourself? What has gotten into you? Ever since you disappeared for a few days you've come back different."
"I haven't changed. I'm still the same Shawn Wilson."
"Are you cheating on her?"
"Jeez, mom. No!"
"She says you haven't touched her."
"You two talk too much, that has to stop. It's not healthy."
"Shawn, do you want me to..." Deborah said coming around the corner, coming face to face with Wilma. Her eyes widened. "Mrs Wilson!"
"What the hell is she doing here, Shawn?" Wilma said standing up.
"She came back to town and asked for her job back. Carl said she was working here before and was good, so I gave her the job back."
"She almost got you killed!" Wilma said, pointing at her.
"I thought you didn't know who assaulted me. Which is it?"
"Shawn, that girl is trouble. Is she the reason you're acting differently? What has she done to you?"
"Nothing, mom. I don't remember her, okay? She's just a girl that's working here." He said that and Deborah ran to the back. Carl tried to grab her but she got lose and left the diner.
"This is not over. Just wait until your wife hears you have your former lover working here again."
"Let me guess, you're going to tell her?"
"Of course I am!" Wilma huffed and left.
