Shawn walked into July's room. She was pacing. "What's wrong?" He asked, kissing her cheek.
"Where have you been? Were you with her?" She asked, smelling his neck.
He gently pushed her away. "July, please. First, I was working, and second, yes, I had to see her. You know she works at the diner."
"You either fire her or go work for my father!"
He guided her to a chair and made her sit down. "July, you know well that none of those things are going to happen. The diner is my place and she needs a place to work. I talked to her last night. There is nothing between us. It's just us and our kids. Okay?"
"I still don't feel comfortable with you two working together, alone. Please reconsider going to work with my dad. We could use the money, please. That would make me so happy." She pleaded.
"July, drop it. It's not going to happen."
She started wailing and yelling. "You will never love me! It will always be here. Why can't you make me happy for once? Please, give me this." She kicked his legs, and kept yelling until the doctor walked in.
"Please step outside for a moment, Mr Wilson." The doctor said as Shawn stepped outside. A few minutes later, the doctor walked out, gently closing the door. "I had to sedate her. What did we talk about not stressing her out?"
"Doctor, I don't know if I can do this. Is stressing me out. She wants me to do things that are impossible."
"Impossible or you just don't want to do them? Remember, that's your wife suffering there, the mother of your kids. That unborn baby is suffering from stress. Is that what you want? Or do you want their wellbeing? Go in and talk to her."
Shawn went back to the room. July laid in the bed staring at the ceiling with tears in her eyes. "Why bother? This is going to be my life. Alone in a hospital, nothing to live for." She said.
"Don't say that. We have Andrew, the new baby, we... we have us."
"Do we?" She asked as she grabbed his hand.
"Yes, July. I'm here, you have me. I'll take the job at your father's company if that will make you happy."
"Yes, you have no idea how much! Thank you. Now, go pick up Andrew and talk to my dad about it. Go!"
Shawn left the hospital and headed to July's parents' house. There Camila coldly greeted him. "Hi, Camila. I just came from the hospital." He said entering the house."How is my daughter you almost killed?"
"Camila, please. I never meant to hurt July."
"You have a child together."
"Having a child together doesn't mean you have to marry that person. I would've taken care of Andrew either way. Where's Anthony? I need to speak with him."
"Are you done with that girl? Are you going to be fully committed to my daughter?"
"I am with your daughter, and I am going to help her get better."
"You're not answering my question."
"Because you don't really want to know my answer. Now, where's Anthony? And get Andrew ready to leave."
"He's in the study." She said as she walked up the stairs.
Shawn knocked on the big door. "Come in." Anthony said.
He walked in and closed the door behind me. "Am I interrupting you?"
"Oh, no, son. How are you doing?"
"I'm good. I just came from the hospital after visiting July. She convinced me of taking up your offer." Shawn said as he sat down.
"Are you coming to work with me?"
"If the offer still stands."
"Why the change of heart? I thought you were adamant about it."
"I work with someone July doesn't agree with. And in order to keep her happy and at peace, I am going to have to do this."
Anthony stood up and walked behind Shawn putting his hand on his shoulder. "Son, to keep your wife happy you need to learn to be more discreet. And never fall in love with them."
"What? What are you talking about?"
"Unlike my wife, I don't care if you're sticking it to the whole town. Just be discreet. That's how I do it. And I have a happy wife."
"I'm uncomfortable with this conversation."
"But you were comfortable cheating on my daughter?"
"I never cheated on July, really."
"Shawn, we are men. It's in our blood. If you want to keep this girl, go ahead. But don't fall in love with her and make sure she doesn't become a problem."
"She won't be a problem. She made sure she doesn't want anything to do with me."
"There will be others. Just wait until you start working with me. There are so many beauties." He said as he kissed the tips of his fingers. "So, when do you want to start?"
"I'm going to need a week to find someone to take care of the diner."
"Perfect. Welcome to the company, son." They shook hands. Shawn got up and left the study. Outside, Andrew and Camilla waited.
"Daddy!" Andrew said, running to his arms.
"How could you throw that away?" Camila asked as she walked away.
