Part 48

Shawn was dozing off in the hospital room in the chair next to July, when John walked in. "Hey, Shawn." He whispered. "Could you come out here for a moment?"

Shawn quickly got up. Took one last look at a sleeping July and walked out. "Yes, what's up?"

"We found her. We found Deborah."

"Where was she? Is she okay?"

"You were right, she was taken."

"What? Who would do that and why?"

"We might be needing your help with that."

"Why?"

"It was Nelson Rollins and your mother."

"Are you telling me my mother kidnapped Deborah?"

"Yes. Nelson led us there, apparently he had a change of heart."

Shawn looked back at the closed door to July's room and barged in. He shook July up. "Wake up!"

"What? What is it Shawn? Did something happen?" She asked, rubbing her eyes.

"Did you know about my mom taking Deborah?"

July stayed quiet and looked between John and Shawn and broke down crying. "I'm so sorry. I can't keep doing this. It's too much."

"What are you talking about?" Shawn asked as he stepped back.

"I never tried to kill myself, it was staged. I was never pregnant. Your mother just wanted you away from Deborah. She was convinced she would do it too. I knew she had taken her but I didn't know where."

"But the doctor told me all this crap."

"All a lie. The doctor is in it too."

"We are done, hope you know that." He said as she cried and nodded her head. Then he walked out of the room followed by John.

When he got to the police station, he ran inside and saw Deborah sitting in one of the benches hugging herself. He walked a few steps towards her and grabbed her. She tried pushing him away, but he held her tight. "I'm here now. It's over. I'm not going anywhere." He said.

"But your wife."

"It was all a ruse. Everything was a lie."

She put her arms around his neck and pulled him close and they kissed. "I love you. I was so scared. I thought I would never see you again." She cried.

"I can't believe my mother did this." He wiped her tears away.

"Shawn, she wants to see you." John told Shawn.

He let go of Deborah. "I'll be back." And followed John to the holding cells.

"Shawn!" Wilma cried as soon as she saw him. "You need to tell them this was a mistake, I was set up."

"You were set up? They found you inside the building trying to stab Deborah."

"That girl is so dramatic, I was saving her. I was cutting her ties."

"Mom, stop lying."

"Nelson set me up. He's the one that kidnapped her. He took her into that building and then told me to go over there. When I get there I find Deborah all tied up. So I grabbed a knife and tried to free her."

"John said he knocked on the door and you told him there was nothing wrong."

"I know how bad it was going to look. So I lied. Get me out of here, please. Who is going to take care of your father?"

"Mom, July told me you took Deborah. July told me everything. It's over. Even the doctor is getting arrested right now. I'm going to find a better doctor for dad. I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive you." He turned around and walked away.

"Shawn, could you come in here real quick?" John asked as Shawn walked by. Shawn walked inside the room and saw Nelson.

"I should kill you!" Shawn lunged at Nelson but John held him back.

"I understand. But I want to tell you everything about your mother." Nelson said.

"Fine, go ahead." He said, taking the seat across from him.

"It all started when Deborah's mother supposedly stole the only man your mother has ever loved from her, James Thompson. I've always loved Deborah's mother, but she always rejected me. They got married and left town, I tried to forget her, Wilma never forgot James. So, Wilma sent her mother a letter saying her mother had fallen ill that she needed to get here right away. Wilma paid me to grab her and rape her. And I'm not proud of it, I did all this. She got pregnant with Deborah, I just found this out and she died when she had her. Your mother has still been paying me to keep quiet about all this and I want to tell you, I don't know what for, but she's been paying that doctor that's been taking care of your father and your wife."

"Yes, we've taken care of that already." John said.

Shawn got up to leave, and turned back. "Who is her family? What was her mother's name?"

"Marilyn Kynes." Nelson said.

"Gina's daughter." John said.
