"Have you heard from your father? I'm starving."
"They are watching him. He can't come over for now."
"Can't he send Helga?"
"That bitch got the kids and ran back home. Her parents took her back and accused my dad of everything he has done to her over the years."
"What? Deborah put her up to it. I'm sure. She would've never done that by herself. She didn't have the guts."
"I know, so now my dad's been running the bar by himself."
"What about accusing Deborah of stealing his money? That would bring her out and take some steam off of him."
"He got that money illegally. Can't use that?"
Roger laughed. "And all the times I held that over Deborah's head. Come on, we need to get some food."
"Are you crazy? I'm not going out."
"I had someone bring me that car that's outside. It's not linked to any of us. We are going to leave town, it's too hot for us right now."
"And what's your plan?"
"First, we get some food. Then we go get Deborah."
"Get her for what? She screwed us. What are we going to do with her?"
"She's going to pay, she and her little boyfriend, apparently he didn't get the message." Roger opened the door and walked outside. He looked back at Serge. "Are you coming?"
"You're crazy, but I'm not staying here." They got in the car and drove away.
Shawn walked to the park and saw Deborah sitting on the bench. "Hey." He said sitting next to her.
"Sorry for storming out like that."
"I'm sorry for what I said. I know we used to have a relationship before, even though it was wrong, I was engaged."
"You weren't engaged, Shawn."
"Maybe I was and I lied to you."
She put her hand on top of his. "Shawn, you're not a liar. You never lied to me. But it's okay. I have to accept that I lost you."
He looked at her wanting to hold her and kiss her deeply. "I hate seeing you like this." He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I'll be okay. I'm really glad you rescued me and offered me a place to stay until I get back on my feet."
"It's the least I could do."
"I better head back." She said getting up.
"Go ahead. I'll stay a little bit longer."
He stared at her as she disappeared. She was driving him crazy, now he understood why he cheated on July. Would he be able to work next to her without being tempted? He smiled at the thought. "There you are!" July said, walking towards him with Wilma.
"What now?" He asked as he got up from the bench.
"What now?" She repeated. "I had to find out through your mom that she's back! Why didn't you tell me?"
"To avoid this. Thank you, mom."
"I'm doing it for the sake of your marriage. You shouldn't be lying to your wife!"
"I never lied to her." He corrected.
"You cheated on me with her while we were engaged! You swore it was a mistake, that you would never do it again."
"I didn't lie. I'm not cheating on you. July, this is not the place to be having this discussion." He grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him. "We'll talk at home, without my mother."
"You are hurting me!" July cried.
He let go of her. "Don't exaggerate. You are making a scene."
"She has to go, Shawn." July said.
"She's not going anywhere. She needs the job right now."
"As the owner of the diner, I want her out."
"You're only part owner. While dad is bedridden, I own the other half. And she stays. Look, I was stupid before and made a mistake being with her. She knows I am married and in no way interested in her. You are going to have to trust me or not. What is it going to be?"
"I don't trust her, Shawn. She got with you before knowing you were engaged, what makes you think she won't try to break our marriage?"
"She didn't know we were engaged. Plus I'm not going anywhere. I made a promise to you."
"She knew you were engaged! I told her the first day she started working at the diner and July told her too when you bought her to stay at the cabin." Wilma said.
"Both of you, stop! You are driving me crazy and giving me a headache." He rubbed the back of his head. "I have to get back to work. July, go home and mom, leave us alone." He left them standing there with their mouths opened.
