Chapter 15 - The Greyhound Family
Rayleigh's POV
And so on, I'm still barely surviving. Psyche is still following me everywhere and Alexander is suddenly looking at me more than usual, like he's watching my every move. I was seriously terrified all day.
Luck really hates me. I have experienced nothing but misfortune. And now, if anything could get worse, I'm being scolded by my family.
"Until now you still have no talent!? What a disgrace!!! You are good for nothing!" shouts the man in front of me, who is my uncle. Robert Blair Greyhound, my uncle and my father's brother.
You don't have to point that out, old man. You can't just expect a miracle to happen suddenly. I know this is weird but I really feel sorry for the original owner of this body. Mainly, it's his family that was the whole reason why Rayleigh became a villain. A psychotic and violent. I mean, they considered him part of their family!?
He's not a machine with limitless physical strength, he's not something you could just program whatever you wanted him to do.
He's human and so am I.
No wonder why it is said in the novel that Rayleigh does not treat everyone as one person. I think he got that attitude from that rotten family.
Rayleigh isn't perfect, it also applies to everyone. They must learn to accept that this is all Rayleigh can do, they must at least acknowledge him whenever they see that he is trying his best.
I can't help but feel frustrated about it. I too have been treated this way, but not by my family, but by other people who have an extreme crab mentality and are insanely jealous towards me.
Rayleigh wouldn't have been a villain if it weren't for them. He was just a boy who wants to be loved by someone. Unfortunately, no one bothered to catch up.
There's more to life than talent...
I didn't really care for that quote before when watching a certain anime. But as time went on, I started to attach importance to that quote.
"That's all he is. Our brother is an idiot after all. He was born that way." sighed my oldest brother, Kevin, the second son in the family.
"Yes. You're just wasting your money, Dad. Once useless, always born useless. So just stop him from going to the school." said Marie, the eldest daughter of the family.
Fuck this anger from before, I need to hear this next opportunity. Yes, big sister! I'm useless and always will be! Say more so that father disowns me and I can live a life away from here. That way, I can never see their silly faces again!
"Silence." my dad says firmly.
Everyone became attentive and quiet.
"He'll only be there for a year. There's no need to rush." he says.
"Ugh, Dad. Really!? Ever since we entered Rayleigh for that academy, we've become a laughing stock! The Greyhound Family, a family full of incredible and extraordinary talent, has one member who is utterly useless and talentless!" Joseph screams indignantly.
Oof. Every time, is this always Rayleigh's conversation with his family?
Wow, it's really painful to be him.
As my family argues in front of me, I see our little brother, Bruno, looking at me with a strange expression on his face.
"What?" I arched an eyebrow, eyeing him curiously.
"Nothing... it's just for some reason... you're acting different than usual."
Bruno tells me.
My eyes almost widen. This boy is sharp.
