Cloudy days and rainy nights. To some they bring sadness and the feeling of loneliness. To her, they brought peace and comfort. Especially when roaming the streets in darkness, picking up the slack of local "heroes".

Being a hero isn't what it used to be, well, not for her. Since the war, so much had changed. Villains were more ruthless, not afraid to do what it took to get their score. Heroes were afraid to step on too many toes in fear of losing civilian support.

Either way, to her it was overrated. They were so focused on good and evil, they didn't see the area in between. That's why she decided to pick up that mantle, was she deemed one of the "good guys"? No. Her reputation for doing what she needed to do almost made her a villain, but she didn't mind. She had never fit in anyways. It was easier to be alone and to herself like this.

Rain had begun to pour, making the humid air of rainy season cool slightly. Her dark chocolate hair clung to her as she carefully made her way along the roof tops to her destination. An arms deal she had been stalking for weeks was happening tonight.

Her grey eyes carefully looked at the armed guards in the shipping yard, counting and watching their pattern. She needed to get past them, and to the drop site. The plan was to keep to the shadows, and keep quiet, simple.

Carefully making her way undetected as the rain poured, she arrived at her vantage point, removing the fingerless gloves on her hands. The men were talking back and forth as her attention settled on the stacks of cases next to a large van. Why is it always vans, she thought to herself, be more original...jeez.

They began to trade the money. That was her queue. She pulled out a knife, carefully slicing her palm, watching the red liquid appear. The men began to yell as gunshots fired, making her eyes snap up. The winged hero Hawks had entered the ring. She huffed and outstretched her hand, "Annoying ass turkey."

Her pupils dilated as she activated her quirk. The blood that was now spilling from her palm hardened into spikes, launching at the fray. Hopefully, he was be smart enough to stay out of the way. If not, that was his mistake.

Hawks felt something approaching and barely moved in time. Deep red spikes landed in his opponents, hitting some in vital organs, others more mild areas. His golden eyes scanned the darkness until he saw movement. A smirk adorned his lips as he took off towards it.

"Fucking hell," she sighed and jumped down, taking off through the shipping containers, hoping to lose him.

Hawks was high in the air, working a Birds Eye view of his target, "Interesting." He swooped down and rounded a corner, causing her to slide to a halt. "Easy now," he grinned, "I just wanna talk."

The rain became a hazy mist as she scoffed, "I'm sure you do."

"Who are you working for," he tilted his head.

"Myself. Now step aside," her grey eyes narrowed in warning.

Hawks took in her appearance trying to decide if she was friend or foe. She wore all black to blend in with the night that encompassed them. Her steely eyes never faltered in challenging him. He casually reached up and pulled a feather from his red wings, "I'm trying to be civil here-"

She squeezed her palm, making a red katana appear, "And I'm warning you."

His eyes narrowed as her gave a small smile, "Have it your way."

They both lunged at one another, their weapons making hard contact. He had to hand it to her, she was stout, unmoving against his weight. She pushed off of him and made another swing, he changed his position and blocked her. Taking the opportunity, she swung her long legs towards his torso. Hawks quickly blocked before he picked up his pace, trying to tire her out.

Their weapons began to hit rapidly as they fought through the maze of shipping containers. They landed small hits on one another here and there, but mostly spent these moments figuring one another out. He had no idea who this woman was, but she fought like a seasoned hero. Her form failed her in the blink of an eye as he slammed her into a metal container. She visibly winced and fought to catch her breath. He was fast and agile, an actual challenge.

He swooped her legs, making her land roughly on the muddy ground. She made a move to get up, but his signature feather sword stopped her. He grinned catching his breath, "You're pretty good."

Her eyes glared at him, while she remained silent. Blue lights and commotion sounded in the distance, causing the hero to avert his eyes for a moment. When he looked back, she was gone. He spun around, his eyes searching carefully. A sigh left him when he decided she was long gone.

"Damn that was close," she whispered to herself as she followed the back streets into the city. If the police hadn't distracted him, she would be in hot water. Her grey eyes looked down at her hand, the bleeding had stopped finally, allowing her to put her glove back on and make her way home.
___________
Her apartment wasn't anything special to look at. A simple one bedroom. It was a place to rest and in some cases recover, and that was all she needed. She kept it clean, her landlord was nosy. His excuse was to make sure she was doing okay, being a young single female and all.

She pulled the soaked clothing from her body, putting in immediately in the wash. She had realized how muddy she had gotten during their quarrel. She started the shower, letting it warm up as she made sure her door was locked.

A deep sigh left her person when the steaming water settled against her cold skin. Her mind raced thinking about her encounter. She needed to be more aware and cautious. Villains were already on her case, she didn't need nosy heroes as well.
