Pro hero Hawks was never known to be on time. For anything. So when he sauntered into his agency around lunchtime, his secretary already had food waiting on him.
He yawned and rubbed his golden eyes as he plopped into his chair. She shut the door to his office and sat down, pushing her shoulder length blonde hair behind her ear, "Are you ready?"
He took a bite of his chicken and nodded, "Not really."
The woman snorted, "So, at three you have a meeting with the detectives from last night about the vigilante you encountered. At four you have an interview for the local paper, then dinner," she paused, "Afterwards you have patrol over the east end of the city for the rest of the night."
The blonde tilted his head, "Can you do some digging for me?" She nodded, "Pull the files for UA, I need to know someone who graduated with a blood quirk." The woman made notes as he spoke, "Dark hair, grey eyes, athletic build, she might be around my age."
"Is this who you encountered last night?"
Hawks nodded, "Yeah. Don't let anyone know though, I need more information." He stretched, "Other than that, it seems like an easy day."
She smiled and stood, "Oh one more thing, Dynamite's agency called, they inquired if you wanted to assist them with a big case."
He sighed, "Who called?"
"She did..."
He frowned briefly before standing, "Alright. Tell 'em to send me the details."
"Will do." She stood and dusted off his coat, "Try not to be late today."
He flashed a goofy grin, "No promises."

Coffee. She needed it like flowers needed the sun. Speaking of the sun, it was currently shouting through her window. Dammit, I forgot the blinds, she groaned and tried to hide her face underneath her pillow. Her body was sore from her run in last night, making her movements stiff and slow. It had been a while since she had an encounter like that. The woman brushed her teeth and downed a glass of water, accompanied with a handful of pain pills. Her eyes moved to her stove to read the time. Three in the afternoon, man, she was up earlier than normal today. After stretching, she made her way to the closet, pulling out a pair of denim fitted jeans and a black tshirt that hugged her form. She managed to run a brush through her mid back length hair and pulled it into a ponytail. A simple baseball cap completed her ensemble as she grabbed her keys and headed to get the sweet nectar of life.
While she wasn't of the fancy side of town, she was blessed with a bomb ass coffee shop. Luckily, it was only a block away, meaning she didn't have to coax her legs into moving that far. She smiled when the smell of perfection hit her nose.
"You're early," said the tall man behind the counter smiling.
She chuckled and walked up to the counter, "Yeah, I decided to get moving earlier today."
"You want the usual?"
"Yes, please," she slid onto a stool at the counter, "How's business?"
He chuckled, "Same as yesterday."
"Rocky," she teased, "your business is booming."
Rocky grinned, his brown eyes sparkling in amusement, "I never said it was a bad thing."
She chuckled, watching him work. For the three years she had lived here, Rocky was her constant. She knew that everything about him. His three children, his loving wife, and the story of how they came to be. She knew his birthday, his favorite food, he was almost like a father figure to her. Always asking about her bruises and odd hours. As far as he knew, she was a detective. It wasn't that far from the truth.
He placed a black coffee and cheese danish in front of her, "Drink up."
"Thank you," she lifted the hot cup to her lips, taking a slow sip. The feeling of her body coming to life crept through her veins as the liquid made its way down.
She was a few coffees in, typing on her laptop, when another customer entered. She laid no mind until she heard a familiar voice, "I'd like a hot tea please."
Rocky of course smiled, "It'll be right up!"
A moment of panic ran through her, but, it left just as quickly. It was dark enough last night, she should be okay. A long breath left her as she kept her eyes on her work.
"Ma'am," a tap on her shoulder made her tense up. She spun around and was met with golden eyes, "sorry, your laptop came unplugged."
She blinked and looked at the cord, putting on a fake smile, "Oh, thank you, I appreciate you letting me know." She plugged it in. He opened his mouth, but, Rocky unknowingly came to the rescue with his tea. Relief hit her when the hero made his exit. That was close.
Hawks took a sip of his tea, smiling at how good it was as he made his way down the street. His thoughts went back to the woman in the shop, a realization hit him, making him stop in his tracks. "Wait," he spun around and jogged his way back to the coffee shop, bursting in the door.
Rocky popped his head up and blinked, "Is something wrong sir?"
Golden eyes scanned the business, "No I'm sorry I thought I dropped something important." She was nowhere to be found. He gave the man a smile, "My apologies."
Rocky waved it off with a smile, "It's no problem, have a good day!"
The winged hero turned and began his trek once more to his destination. He was deep in thought, his mind working. So she lives somewhere near here, he thought to himself, that means she won't be hard to find...
He needed to figure out if she was on his side, or the other. She was deadly accurate with her attacks last night. Meaning if she was against him, she could become a major problem. However, killing, villain or civilian, was illegal either way. He smirked as he made his way into the station, he enjoyed a good chase.
