"What does that mean?" I asked.
"I will do same as I'm doing now but I will do it in New York! They opened last month." He looked like a kid that just got a new toy.
"You are moving to New York?"
He chuckled "or course not. I will be travelling back and forth."
"Do you know how many hours those flights are?"
"Yeah, I looked it up."
"How will that work? And what about us?"
"I am not the only one that is going to do this. Sunday evening, we take the company plane to New York. Thursday evening after work we fly back, and we can spend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday together."
"I work on Friday."
He smiled "I know, but I will be home. I will clean, cook and so on when you are working. Once you are done working, we can spend all our free time together."
"Are you taking the offer? It is going to affect our life a lot." I asked him.
"Of course, I will. This is an opportunity I can't let go."
"But..." I started but he interrupted me.
"I already signed Rose; it's happening."
I looked at him in disbelief, he signed this without consulting me first? After graduation I could start in San Francisco for a bigger publisher, but I talked it through with him. In the end I refused the job, I wanted to stay closer to home and took the one with Diana.
"You don't look so happy." He remarked.
"I'm just a bit confused why you didn't talk this through with me first? It's a huge change. This will weigh on our relationship."
He took my hand in his "I don't think so. Maybe it will help us, rekindle the flame. I love you Rose; this will work out."
"Okay." I sighed "Sorry, I'm really happy for you. You worked hard for this; you deserve this."
The rest of the evening I listened to Hugo talking about his new job. I smiled at him and nodded at everything he said, if he noticed that I wasn't as happy as he, then he was good at ignoring it.

Friday, we had our first fight, I was getting ready to go out with Iris. In 30 minutes, she would be picking me up to go to the pottery cursus.
"Sunday I'm already leaving Rose. You should have cancelled your plans with your sister." He told me.
"Sorry, she had already paid for the lessons. And besides when I said yes to her you were signing a contract without talking about it with me."
"That's not fair Rose." He muttered at me.
"No? And why not? I think we will survive a pottery class. I'll be back in 2 hours."
