After Iris left, I left my terrace doors open so that the sun could come in and put on some music and went back to my bookcase. One hour later I gave up, the bookcase was too small for my books. It also nearly fell apart. I took my phone out and searched the internet, seeing that the Ikea was open today. I called Lexie "Hey Lexie? What are you doing?"
"Nothing special. Why?"
"Fancy going with me to the store to buy a new bookcase? It's a 1-hour drive."
"Yes, I'm bored anyway. I'll pick you up!" and she cut the call.
10 minutes later she ran my doorbell, I opened the door, and she walked in with a measuring tape "I assume you didn't have this?" She held up the measuring tape.
"Nope."
We took the measurements of the spot I had for a bookcase, I let Sansa out closed the window and we left the apartment. On our way we sang together with the songs that played on the radio, being friends for so long we accepted each other's voices a long time ago and we didn't care that we couldn't sing. We were having fun and that's all that was important.
2.5 hours later I had finally chosen a new bookcase and I paid for it. One small detail that slipped our mind though, we hadn't thought how we would get the box in Lexie her car.
Opening the trunk, Lexie laid back the back seat "so? What do you think?" I asked her, eying the box on our cart. It was already difficult to put that box on our chart, and that was just dropping it down.
"How on earth are we going to lift it into the trunk?" Lexie asked me, worry on her face.
"We can do this Lexie; we don't need men for this."
"Of course, we don't" she rolled her eyes and flexed her biceps at me, we giggled, and I pulled my hair together in a messy bun. "Let's do this."
20 minutes later we were desperate, all our strength gone, sweaty and annoyed as hell. We did managed to lift the box, but it was too heavy to push in further in the car. The first 5 minutes it was funny but not anymore. I dropped down on the chart and huffed. Lexie left 5 minutes ago to buy us something to drink, and she came back with two water bottles.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked her.
She glanced around "we could ask help."
Someone cleared his throat behind us, asking for our attention "if you want ladies, I can help." A deep male voice sounded. We both turned around and saw a security guard standing in front of us wearing a big smile, his eyes shining with amusement.
"How long did he watch us?" I muttered to Lexie.
"Maybe we watched a bit too long, but you two were quite entertaining" he chuckled "we even made a bet if you would succeed or not." He laughed.
"We?" I asked arching my eyebrow.
He pointed out the security camera "me and my colleagues."
