August 5th, 2032 (5 weeks later)
After work I drove to my parents, tonight we would go on a camping trip with the girls. Lexie celebrated her birthday on Monday with her family and Chris. With how busy I was at work I asked if we could celebrate her birthday during this weekend. That's why we agreed to go on a camping trip, Diana even forced me to take Monday of as well. I'm glad she did that, I need it.
Since summer break started Victoria has been working on her book almost every day. Especially when I told her that the phoenix wanted to publish it. 4 weeks ago, I went with Victoria to Los Angeles to meet Simon and he showed us some drawings that their phoenix made for her book. Victoria was on a high when we left Los Angeles. She finally decided how her protagonist was named, she had chosen Shae till my mom walked into my office calling me Kalina and Victoria promptly changed her name to Kalina Shae. My mother was very pleased with that and brought me weekly blue M&Ms for Victoria.
I pulled over at my parent's place and walked towards the front door, using my key I let myself in. Dad was working today and mom would be still at her work. I was only here to pick up the tent for our weekend.
"Kalina?" I heard mom asking from the kitchen.
"Oh, hey mom. I thought that you would be still at work."
"We found a girl that wanted to work for a couple of hours a week. I thought that it would be good to have some alone time with my daughter. Tea and cookies at the terrace?" She asked.
"Okay" tea and cookies on the terrace means 'I want to talk to you about something.'
We installed ourselves at the terrace, she handed me my cup and a cookie and took a sip from her tea, still watching me. "What mom?" I asked her.
"Lucas." She said.
"What about him?" I asked her, I hadn't seen him again since I left Megan's wedding.
But I did follow the lawsuit he and his father had filed against Hailey and her father. I was up to date with everything thanks to Justin and Megan, they both had become good friends.
At the end of June Lucas had found out what really happened. The day after he and his dad walked into the police department and filled in a complaint against Hailey and her dad for a lot of things like abuse of trust, attempt to defraud, unintentional homicide, intentional bodily harm and so on.
2 weeks later he sent me a message 'Rosie, I miss you so much. I know that I've screwed up. Sorry! Maybe you can give me another chance someday.' He still sends me messages every day.
"Why are you keeping him at a distance? I don't understand Kalina, I thought you liked him."
I sighed "I do like him and that's why I'm staying away. I need some time for myself."
