I found Gail and Ed sitting close to each other, his arm around her, both sipping a coffee and some biscuits in front of them. The scent of freshly made biscuits hung in the kitchen. Both of them looked concerned but once they heard me enter, they smiled at me "how is he?" Gail asked.
I shrugged and shook my head "being stubborn. But he showered by himself, he is resting on his bed."
"Thanks for staying Rose." Gail said.
"He did kick me out. I just stayed till he was out of the shower."
"Do you want a biscuit? I just made them." Gail asked.
"Sure." I dropped my purse and took a seat with them.
"Coffee? Tea?"
"A coffee with a lot of milk and a sugar please."
"How was it at the beach?"
"Good. He even went in the water. Maybe it was all a little too much too fast. He just left the hospital."
Ed squeezed my hand "don't feel guilty Rose. Like I already said. He is a big boy."
They asked me about my work and how it was to work for Diana. Ed was a lawyer, and I could tell how proud he was of Megan to became one too. Gail left us because she had an appointment at the hairdresser. I was telling Ed about the best books I read when Megan stormed in panic on her face "Were is mom?"
"She is at the hairdresser." Ed told her.
"Oh right." She was walking back and forth, worry on her face.
"What's wrong Meg?" Ed asked.
She started crying "it's a disaster."
Ed stood up and wrapped his arms around her "calm down Megan, what is happening?"
"My dress! The store just called me, an intern tripped over it, and the dress was torn apart."
"I'm sure they can sew it back together."
"DAD! You don't understand. It was the lace part, they can't 'sew it together.' I'm getting married in two weeks and I don't have a dress."
"Oh" Ed stood before her, confusion on his face, not exactly knowing what to do.
"What did they suggest?" I asked.
"That I come in now, I can pick out any other dress in the same price category. I don't need to pay extra, but I don't know if I'm going to find another dress. I loved my dress. And mom isn't here to help me pick a new one."
"And your bridesmaids? I'm sure that they want to help you pick a new one out."
"I don't have bridesmaids." she said quietly.
"Oh, well if you want, I'm free. I can always ask my sisters to come too. I'm sure they would want to help as well."
"Really? What do you want?" she asked.
