After Megan said that Hailey was there too, Lucas went quiet. I felt him pull away completely. The others left the pool after a while, but I couldn't leave him alone. I took a seat at one of the sun-beds and started reading. 4 chapters later he stopped swimming, he was sitting in the shallow part of the pool on the stairs. I put my book away and watched him.
"Do you want to talk about Hailey?" I asked him.
"No Rose, I don't want to talk about her."
"Okay, but I am here if you want to."
He nodded and smiled at me, pulling himself out of the pool. I handed him a towel and he dried himself off putting his prothesis back on. "I'm going to do my exercises." He said and left me alone at the pool.
It was almost noon so I decided to go home, Sansa would be waiting for me by now.
When I arrived at my apartment Sansa didn't came running to me, that was odd, she has been outside since yesterday afternoon. Entering my apartment, I found her inside with Hugo.
"Hugo? What are you doing here?"
"Sorry, I still have my key. I passed by because I wanted to see if you were up for lunch."
"Yeah, sorry I slept over at Megan's."
"You don't have to justify yourself Rose. Anyway, I used my key because Sansa was whining."
"Thank you. Do you want to stay here for lunch or go out?" I asked him.
"Whatever you want."
"Okay, then we go out. I'm just going to change quick."
"Take your time."

We both ordered our lunch and then we just watched each other.
"This is strange." I laughed.
"It is but you are my best friend. I don't want to lose that." Hugo said.
"Really?" I squeezed his hand. "I would say you are my best friend too, but I don't think Lexie would be happy to hear that." I smiled at him.
"Best male friend then."
"Good thinking Hugo."
"So, I wanted to ask you something."
"Okay, ask away."
"What is going on with you and Lucas?"
"Oh... uh ..." I stammered.
"Rose, friends remember." I nodded, while he continued "he gave me a strange vibe yesterday."
"What strange vibe?"
"Nothing bad. He was friendly but he looked... I don't know, jealous maybe."
I sighed "we have spent lot of time together. We became really close."
