Monday I was at work earlier, waiting for Diana. I wanted to talk to her before the meeting started. 5 minutes later Diana walked in. "Rose, so early?"

"Yes, sorry I needed to talk with you. It's important."

She nodded "follow me." We walked into her office, and we took a seat. "I'm listening Rose. I only hope that you don't want to talk about what I think it is."

I shook my head "no, well yes but no."

"That's confusing Rose." She smiled.

"Sorry, so Hugo came home Friday, he told me that he called you."

"Yes, he did. I must say that I was surprised hearing what he had to say."

"Me too."

"I don't understand Rose."

"Hugo assumed that I would move with him to New York. That wasn't my intention, never was. I never wanted to leave home, my family, friends, and my work here."

"Good to hear."

"To be clear, I love working for you and here. I really don't want to leave."

"Good, does Hugo understands that?"

"Now he does, we broke up. He went back to New York."

"Are you sure? I know that I can't pay you what they offered you in..."

I interrupted her. "Diana please, I don't care about the pay." She arched her eyebrow at me with a smirk on her lips. "Well, yeah, I need the pay, but I love my work here. I love that you listen to our opinion. I love how free we are to do our work."

"Good, and if you want some time off Rose, or something else don't hesitate to ask. You were for a long time together; you need time to process that."

"I know but for now I just want to continue my life."

She nodded "I understand. My first husband and I married after college. We knew each other from when we were 15 years old. A month after we married, we started talking about kids. He assumed that I wanted to have kids..." she sighed. "We were together for over 10 years, and we never ever talked about something that important. I had a dream and kids weren't in the picture at that moment off my life. 5 months after our wedding we were divorced. We loved each other but it wasn't enough. We let each other go, 3 years later, when I opened this..." she gestured at the building "was the day he got married again."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be. 4 months later, we bumped into each other and went for a coffee. We talked about our life since we divorced, he was happy and so was I. Katie, his wife was pregnant, and he was glowing. A month later I got an invite for their gender reveal party."

"God" I groaned. "Did you go?"

"Yes, we were friends. I missed his friendship more than anything. I must say that I was really nervous when I arrived at their home. He was surprised seeing me when he opened the door. Katie walked towards us, and pulled me in. She told us that she invited me because she knew that he missed his friend."
