I kept stirring the sauce while I tried to listen to Rose her call with Hugo. She left to her bedroom but left her door open. I heard her laugh; I couldn't understand what she was saying but she sounded happy. She came back in the kitchen with a smile on her face. Something stirred in me, something I didn't like. I was jealous seeing that smile on her face, jealous that another man, her ex, was able to put a smile on her face.

"How is it going here?" She asked brushing her body against mine while she glanced towards the sauce. "Done, I think." I told her.

"Great take a seat, I will bring the food to the table."

She served us our food and I took a bite and  groaned "even better than I remembered."

"Thanks." She smiled at me, and I felt happy that this time it was me that put that smile there.

"Did Hugo call you for your birthday?" I asked trying to sound unfazed.

"Yes, he did." She shook her head. "He bought me a flexible airline ticket, to New York."

"He still hopes that you come to him?"

She shook her head "no, our relationship is over, but we are friends. He wants to show me New York. Show me why he loves it so much."

"Are you going?"

She nodded "yeah, I don't know when. But yes, I want to go. We let each other go, I want to see if he's really happy."

"And if he is not?"

"I don't know. But I don't believe he's not happy."

After lunch we did the dishes, and I did my exercises while she read a new book. After I was done, she gave me another massage and then Iris arrived.

Iris and I dropped Lucas off at his home

Iris and I dropped Lucas off at his home. I walked him to his house, and we said goodbye. I gave him a hug and a kiss and walked back to the car. Stepping in the car and buckling up I noticed that Iris kept smiling at me. It was a bit creepy. "What?" I asked her.

"Nothing Rose." She shook her head and started the car.

"Come on Iris, you have clearly something on your mind."
