Chapter 18

"Mom? How did you and dad meet?" 

"Oh? You want to know the story?"

"Yeah!" 

"Well, we met each other and fell in love. We were dating for a while, but then your dad fell in love with someone else." 

"What?!?!?!" 

"Yeah... I was sad, but I tried to move on. Then I saw him again after being separated for a long time. He had broken up with the woman he had loved. I tried to see him as a friend, but it turned out I still loved him. I was going to leave the country. When I was at the airport, he stopped me." 

"Then what happened?" 

"He told me he loved me and we got married, had three children, and lived happily ever after." 

"Wow! It's just like a fairytale!" 

"Yeah. I'm lucky that he loves me back." 

"Mhm! I wish I can fall in love like that someday!" 

"Oh? You're already thinking about romance?" 

"Yeah! I want someone who will take care of me and love me forever and ever!" 

"Well I hope you never experience heartbreak. I hope that you will find a fairytale romance just like your dad and I did. Live a happy life Y/N." 

"I will! I promise!" 

Maybe....

I was never meant to keep that promise.

You jolted awake. The dream was a memory from years ago. 

You had loved hearing the story of how your parents met. 

Now, all you felt was jealousy. 

Jealousy that they could be with the person they loved. 

Why couldn't it have been me? 

Why me? 

Why is it always me? 

What time is it? 

You opened your phone and checked the time. 

It was 2:34. 

You were crying. 

You decided to call Bedo. You needed to keep up appearances of being fine, so talking to another person would help you calm down. After a moment, Bedo picked up. 

"Hey Bedo!"

"How are you doing Y/N?"

"Great! How are you? How are things at school?"

"It's fine. Nothing much is going on. Did you have any school work you didn't understand?"

"No. I'm sure I got it."

"Okay. I'm trying to put a stop to all the rumors but it isn't easy."

"Don't worry. I'm sure you're doing your best. Even if you can't, when the school year ends, everyone will forget about it over the summer."

"So you're planning on doing this for the entire school year?"

"What other choice do I have Bedo? I'll be fine. Plus, my parents need the help with Qiqi."

"Alright then. Call me if you need anything okay?"

"Alright. Same goes to you. Bye Bedo!" 

You ended the call and sighed. You had caught a glimpse of dark purple hair in the background. Was that Kuni? Hopefully Bedo didn't notice. 

You decided to go for a walk. Maybe you could calm yourself down and forget about everything for a while. 

"Mom! I'm going on a walk!" 

"Alright! Be back before 5!" 

"Kay!" After getting ready, you walked out the door. 

Wandering aimlessly, you ended up at the door to a very familiar library. 

"Hey Lisa!" 

"Oh hi cutie!" She turned from where she was talking to a woman.

The unfamiliar woman had dark purple hair in a long braid that reached her waist. When she turned around, you were captivated by her light purple eyes that seemed to glow from the inside. 

Her hair....

It reminds me of Kuni....

Ugh. I came here to stop thinking about him and this happens?

"Who are you?" You looked up at the sound of her voice. 

"I'm Y/N. And you are?" 

"Ah... I'd like to speak with you for a moment. Lisa, do you have any spare rooms?" 

"Yes. I'll keep an eye on you. No funny business." Lisa seemed a little wary of this woman. She did lead the two of you to a room though. "Y/N. Yell if you need help." 

"Uhhh.. So what did you want to speak to me about?" 

"We'll start with the introductions. Raiden Shogun. Nice to meet you." 

"Nice to meet you too." 

"Hm. You said your name was Y/N right?" 

"Yes." 

"And you go to Tevyat High?" 

"Yeah..." 

"So you're the girl who supposedly seduced Kunikuzushi." 

"I didn't! Those are all just rumors!" 

"I know. He wouldn't fall for just anyone." 

"Yeah... We were just friends and then something happened...." 

"Really?" 

"Yeah." 

"You care for him?" 

"Well, yes." 

"Does he care for you?" 

"I don't know..." 

"I see." 

"How do you know Kuni? As far as I know only a few people know his real name." 

"I'm his older sister." 

"Ohhhh! That's why your hair reminded me of him." 

"People always say our hair is similar." 

"Why did you want to speak with me though? Ms. Lisa seems wary of you." 

"Because she's friends with my mother's girlfriend." 

"Ah. I'm sorry if this is rude but who is your father?" 

"She never told us. I'm fairly certain that we're actually the children of our 'mother's' sister." 

"Wow." 

"Yeah." 

"You still haven't answered my first question though." 

"I want to help you." 

"How? My reputation is already ruined." 

"I have enough power and influence to dispel the rumors." 

"Really?" 

"Yes. However, if you do not wish me to..." 

"Thank you! Thank you so so much!" 

"It's no problem." 

You said farewell and went back home. 

For the first time in a while, you fell asleep with hope.
