Settling the two bottles of soju on the table outside the convenience store, Jay's body dropped into the plastic chair. His exasperated exhale drew the attention of the people lingering around on the two of them.
"You look like you have been cheated on and just found out but couldn't do anything because it's your first love... so you are depressed now."
"I would gradually thank you, Jake, if you could make the comparison even longer so I can turn it into a full storyline and feel the full pain of rejection once again." With a painful smile drawn on his face, Jay's gaze lowered to his hands in deep anchored frustration.
He looked up as Jake hit the table more than needed. Probably the suppressed built-up anger of a professional psychologist after a long day of giving countless consultations.
"You seriously got rejected again?" He rubbed his forehead with exactly the frustration Jay felt. "What was the problem now?"
"Honestly... I didn't ask. It was over for me the moment they said that sentence." He opened the first green bottle in a swift hand movement, soon taking the first shot in a plastic cup. The alcohol left a burning sensation behind as it ran down his throat.
"You mean the comparison with Jungwon?"
Jay closed his eyes in annoyance with the reminder. "Not only that, but I was literally cornered by a Heewon simp." And there goes another shot of soju.
"I mean, he is only an assistant writer. There is nothing else, so why does everyone think there is?" He was about to fill up the third shot.
Jake sighed under his breath and silently pulled his glasses out of the pocket of his jacket. Seems like he was about to work overtime in private again. "Jay, I will be honest with you about your problem."
Putting the green bottle down, Jay looked curiously up from his third glass. With the pause, he realised how warm his cheeks were from the intoxication.
"I don't think it is about your talent," he pushed his glasses up his nose bridge, "because your writing style is really good, it has always been. I think it's a thing about creativity and mindset, to be frank." Jake leaned back and crossed his legs while observing his friend's reaction.
"Please continue the prognosis, Dr. Sim." Jay thoughtfully copied Jake's posture, slightly guilty that he made the blond return to his work mode.
"As a writer, your psyche and creativity are fundamentally important and permanently required. Something in your private life could be the problem, like unsolved feelings in a relationship or something that disturbs you subconsciously."
