Jungwon fell to the ground.
Jay fell to his knees. He was too late. "Jung- Jung- Jungwon-ah." He couldn't believe his eyes. "This is not happening." Unable to comprehend what was in front of him, he shook his head. His eyes suddenly filled to the brim with tears.
In his peripheral vision, he merely caught the culprit's figure running off.
"Jungwon, don't." Jay stopped the boy from pulling the knife he had been stabbed with out. "You- you- will bleed only more." He stuttered, his hand covered with the boy's blood in seconds.
He met the crown prince's eyes, which seemed to be the epitome of both pain and acceptance. "Seong-ah." Jungwon managed a smile in spite of the excruciating pain in his abdomen. His bloodstained hand reached for Jay's. "I finished the stor—"
The screenwriter immediately took his hand in his and came closer to him. Jungwon's blood was starting to get all over him. "Fvcking don't, Jungwon," Jay said silently, resting the boy's head on his lap. "You haven't finished anything, so you won't die. I don't allow it, I can't allow it."
Jungwon closed his eyes due to the pain, his breathing getting shallow as he tried to get a chuckle out of his mouth. "It's okay, Screenwriter-nim."
Jay scoffed in painful disbelief. "The fvck is okay? You are fvcking bleeding to death right now," he managed to say, before choking back the tears that he had been trying to hold back.
Jungwon felt he was suffering more emotionally than physically. Jay looked so hurt. Jungwon just wanted him to be happy. When he knew he couldn't have a happy ending himself, he just wanted him to have one.
He wiped Jay's tears. "At least we really cry because of the other this time." The crown prince could feel his own tears streaming down his cheeks in an uncontrollable way.
The screenwriter's smile was one of terribly painful disbelief. "How can you say that?" He couldn't deal with all of this.
"Seong-ah, I am sorry." Jungwon said before his face contorted in pain. He began to feel dizzy from the loss of blood.
Jay shook his head immediately. "I forgive you, so stop." He tore the sleeves from his robe and wrapped them around the knife and the stab wound. "Stop talking, please. You only lose more blood."
Jungwon put his hand on top of Jay's and tried to get him to let go, but he was too weak. He had lost all his energy already. "I meant nothing what I said earlier," he continued, knowing he hadn't much time left.
"I know, so save it." Jay tried to stop him, unable to hide his tears any longer. Tears fell on the wound.
