Jay looked up from his coffee cup with a sharp stare at a proud rather than ashamed couple named Heejake.

"This." He placed the marriage certificate on the table. "What happened?"

Heeseung looked at Jungwon (who was strangely calm compared to how he had reacted when he first saw the paper). The younger boy played with a ring on his finger, which was identical to the one on Jay's finger.

"None of you have a working memory, it seems," Jake noticed amused. "Tell me, were you two that devastated by each other that you had to get this drunk?"

"This drunk as in what?"

"Mate, aren't you asking me why you're married? Ding, ding, ding, I'd say."

The screenwriter scoffed. "Are you trying to tell me that we were drunk to the point that we both contacted each other, went to the marriage registration office, got our marriage officially registered and returned to Jungwon's in one piece? Completely alone? Jake, we both clearly hear the lie there. You and I both know very well that I can't even stand up straight when I'm drunk since I'm asleep."

With an innocent smile, the psychologist leaned back. "Human beings are surprising and unpredictable creatures, aren't they, babe?" He met Heeseung's eyes, which were trying to play the same innocent Bambi act as his own. "The human psyche has a really strong will, I am so amaz-"

"Sim Jaeyun."

Perhaps Jake's plan didn't work out that well, considering the death threatening glare piercing through his humble form.

In his defence, when Jay cried his heart out about his performance in the Shakespeare play during their university days, Jake was preoccupied with studying the human mind. It is not as though those who studied acting were any better than him at it ( — honourable mention of Jay).

Jake bit down on his lips and looked away with a hint of embarrassment and reluctance to what he was about to do. As he watched his boyfriend grab Jay's hands and get down on his knees, Heeseung's eyes widened.

"My dearest Jay-ah, I have bills to pay. I want to live."

Jay remained serious. "And I want to find out where this ring came from," he commented dryly.

The screenwriter flinched, hit in the side by Jungwon. "You bought rings at the mall last week after I agreed to have dinner with you, Park Jongseong."

The memory made Jay blush. "How did you... you were already on your way, so why... why did you look for me again?"

After a second too dangerously silent for Jungwon's liking, Jay's eyes widened in shock. "DID YOU SUDDENLY REALISE THAT YOU WERE IN LOVE WITH ME AND WANTED TO CON-"
