Jungwon's eyes averted from the list of honourable guests he needed to show his full act of a humble and polite prince tomorrow to the assistant. "Heeseung?"

The pacing boy froze on his place, his hands falling to his side. He had been caught. Heeseung cleared his throat before locking eyes with the royal.

"Is something wrong with y-"

"She will come tomorrow," he blurted out, not knowing how to phrase it the best. Since the king had told him this, he had thought hours about how to tell Jungwon.

Heeseung observed how the prince slowly gulped. "I expected it." Jungwon silently commented, head down and eyes on the paper. He knew they had on purpose not written her name.

"Jungwon, you—" Worriedly, Heeseung approached him, but Jungwon stopped him as he stood up.

"You are dismissed, Hesseung." He only said, not bothering to look at him.

The assistant's face features tensed. He reached out to put his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Jungwon, don't shut yourself out ple-"

The crown prince accepted and placed his hand on the other's before removing it. "I won't, It's fine... I am fine." He gave the assistant a comforting smile before leaving him in the crown prince's chamber.

He stuffed his hands in his pockets, the almost invisible shaking of his hands dissolved for the moment from eye sight. He would be fine. He would be fine as long he was there. As long as his beloved husband would hold his hand, everything would be okay.

"Seong—" Jungwon stopped in the doorway to their chamber. His hopeful smile dropped simultaneously with his hand on the door handle.

He frowned at the foreign emptiness. There was no husband of his in sight. No handsome guy reading and no cute black cat already deep in dreamland with a book halfway covering his face.

The crown prince was enveloped by the dark shadow of the night breaking through the windows. An only fleeting light was the weak crescent moon. It was late.

He sighed and closed the door silently behind him. His back hit the wooden surface as his figure slid down the door to sit on the ground. While his head was resting on his knees, he buried his hands in his hair. "Why is everything so exhausting right now?"

Jungwon's tired feline eyes scanned his surroundings aimlessly until they stopped at something under the bed.

Crumbled paper.

A piece of paper was laying there, perfectly visible due to the reflection of the moon on the ground.

It was weird. Jay was an organised person, never leaving his space messy or chaotic. He would even take care of Jungwon's stuff and create extra space just for the things Jungwon would bring here and (purposefully) forget here.
