Prologue

"HAPPY birthday, Mico!"

"Thank you." I smiled at everyone. Nilapag ni Cameron ang cake sa harap ko at sinindihan naman ni dad ang candle.

"Wish muna kuya Mico!" Sigaw ni Jupiter. Tumango ako at tinignan ang cake. I just wish for a good health for me and my family before I blow the candle. Nag-palakpakan naman sila.

"Mico sinabi mo din sakin last year yan. Twenty six ka na anak. Kelan mo pa ko balak mag-antay? Pag forty ka na?"

"Hindi naman sa ganon." Napa-ngiti ako, "Anyway, I need to go. Madami pa kong pasyente na kailangan asikasuhin."

"But it's your birthday." Mom stopped me.

"I know mom. But I still need to work. I'm in my fourth year of my surgical internship so I need to focus on this. Babawi po ko sa weekend." Paalam ko. Humalik muna ko sa pisngi ni mommy at tinapik ko ang balikat ni dad bago ako lumakad papuntang garage. Nakita ko dun si Regan at Jupiter na naka-sandal sa kotse ko.

"Kuya Mico, don't you want to have fun tonight?" Jupiter asked.

"I don't think I can have fun with you guys. Maybe next time." I smiled.

"N-Nasaan ako?" I asked myself.

"In a hotel."

"Why am I here?"

"I don't—" Natigilan ako nang ma-realize na may sumasagot sa mga tanong ko. Mabilis akong napa-lingon sa gilid ko at nakita ko ang isang babae na naka-ngiti sakin, "Sino ka? Nasan ako? Anong nangyari?"
