Asteroid x57

[Jane's POV]

After parting with my brother and Y/n tali Ashley and myself  headed off to the destress signal. Once the Normandy arrives and drops our mako and heads off to find liara. As we arrive to the asteroid our navigation goes off

Normandy VI: Status: sensors reveal three fusion torches propelling asteroid x57. At its current rate of acceleration, the asteroid will collide with terra nova in approximately 4 hours

Normandy VI: Analysis: Torches must be disabled to cease the acceleration

We then hear our radio pick up the distress signal

Distress signal: Hello? Hello? I heard your transmission. Can you hear me? They haven't found me yet, but I can't talk long. Please shut down the fusion torches or we're all going to die. God, I hope you're hearing this *We hear getting more desperate*

The mako finally lands and we head off to our first torch. While I drive and Ashley mains the cannon tali asks me a question

Tali: So Shepard. I've noticed you have softer spot toward Y/n *She asks nervously*

Jane: He grew up with both my brother and I. I miss those times

Ashley: But why are you so soft with him commander? Ever since Eden prime I saw how you're always worried about him. You aren't even soft with your brother. *She says making a point*

Jane: He's always had my back. My brother does too but it's out of blood. We're supposed to look after each other but with Y/n... I've always my eye on him *I say softly*

Ashley: Do you mean that-

I interrupt her

Jane: Yeah. I think it really hit home when the beacon knocked him out. I didn't want to leave until I knew he'd be fine. He's reckless but he gets that from being around us. Maybe when this whole thing with Saren's over I'll spend some one on one time with Y/n. *I smile a little thinking about it*

We all snap out of our talk when a rocket hit on mako. We take out the turret surrounding the base and drive up to the door and get out of the mako going in the base. Once we enter we see batarians looking furious with a few varren's

Jane: Batarians *I say angrily*

Batarian: Harak! Chek! Chek! *He says commanding the varren to attack us

We take out the raging varren and get behind cover. We take out the first two batarian and I shoot the fuel tank in the back killing two in hiding. We advance and fight the rest. The batarians have terrible aim and kept missing us as we wipe out the rest. We find the control panel for this base's fusion torch and we get a transmission from that woman when we first landed

Kate: I'm reading one of the torches is offline. Was that you? Can you hear me?

Jane: Who are you? What's going on?

Kate: My name's Kate bowman. I'm an engineer. I was a part of the team assigned to bring this asteroid to terra nova. We were attacked by batarian extremist. I've been hiding ever since they've arrived. I think they know the torch went out *She says worriedly*

Jane: Why are they doing this?

Kate: I don't know. If this asteroid isn't slowed, million of people on terra nova are going to die. If I find anything ill- *She stops worried but continues after a sec* I've got to go. Good luck

Once the transmission ends we start to leave. Once the door opens I get shot but my shield doesn't even get damage. I give him a "wtf was that" and he apologized. The man named Simon explains he was another engineer that was working here but got away. Once we tell him he wasn't the solo Supervisor he seemed relieved and asked us if we can look for his three friends he's lost contact with. I promised I would. He also tells us about anti vehicle mine field that's around the next torch and it can only be shut off manually. Sometimes I question how unlucky i could be. We head off towards the next torch and find the mine field he told us about. After taking out the turrets we head off on food being very careful. Once we arrive at the gate we engage the enemy and take them out. I shut off the mine field and head inside. No surprise we see more batarians. We take them all out and once again they've got TERRIBLY aim. You'd think with four eyes they'd be able to do some damage but apparently you'd be mistaken. We arrive at the second control switch and shut it off. Once we do we hear Kate once again
