Thoughts of grim and terrible outcomes whirled through Lexi's mind. Thoughts that made her almost want to throw up at the stress. But how could she not? Jack is missing, along with Mary, and based on what Jack most likely did to Nick and the scorched ash outside, God knows what could've happened to Mary.

Inside the cabin, the Winchesters paced the room, looking for solutions.

"Dean," Sam began, "If Jack did that--"

"Hey, we don't know what happened, okay?" Dean almost snapped, "I mean, we don't know what Nick did. He probably deserved it."

Sam sighed, "Dean, look. No one wanted Nick dead more than I did, but..." He looked down in grimace at Nick's body, "I mean, that--"

Lexi cut him off, "Let's not pretend like Jack wasn't doing us a favour by killing Nick."

"Lex..." Sam shook his head at the girl, "You can't make excuses for this. Th-This is...brutal."

The door creaked opened and heavy footsteps entered the small room. The trench coat clad and deep frowned angel stood before them, immediately catching sight of the corpse in the corner.

"Cas." Lexi announced, straightening up with a slither of hope in her eyes. If anyone could help find Jack, it was Cas.

Castiel pulled a face and tore away his eyes from the body, "Is that Nick?"

Sam nodded, "Yeah. We looked around. No sign of Jack or Mom." He swallowed, trying to bury his anxiety, "There's a, um, blast site behind the house. It looks angelic, just bigger."

"Might have been Lucifer." Dean suddenly suggested, "Nick was trying to bring him back."

Lexi shook her head, "Yeah, but Jack said--"

"Who cares what Jack said?!" Dean turned and faced her, "We don't know what happened! But I swear," His voice shook, but he was quick to keep composer, "If he did something to her, if she is..." He stared down, his jaw clenched and brows forming worry lines. Then, he turned to Castiel, the angel he once called his best friend. "Then you're dead to me."

"Dean." Lexi said, almost like she was scolding him. Everyone knew the strong relationship between Dean and Cas. They were bonded in ways none of the others were. There was a deep trust between them, a trust that Cas broke.

"No, he knew." Dean snapped, "He knew something was wrong with the kid. He knew it, and he didn't tell us! He didn't even tell us!"
