While Jack and Dean went to investigate Tom, the assistant, Sam and Lexi stayed back with Mia to check the security camera footage. Sam at with Mia at her desk while Lexi stood behind them, leaning against the wall.
"Alright, got it. Thanks." Sam spoke through the phone to Dean before hanging up. He let out a short sigh and shook his head.
"What?" Lexi spoke up.
"Dean says Tom is in the clear." Sam replied, placing his phone back down on the desk.
Mia tilted her head slightly, leaning forward in her seat. "How do you know?"
"He handed home a silver dollar. Didn't burn." Sam clarified with a shrug. "Turns out your assistant is just a nice with with five cats."
Lexi couldn't help but let out a quiet chuckle. She often thought that people who lived alone with an excessive amount of cats were just sad and lonely people who need to get a hobby, but she knew that if she were never a hunter then that would probably be her right now.
"What are you doing?" Mia asked, watching Sam type away on the computer.
"I'm scrubbing your security cam footage," He spoke, keeping his eyes trained on the screen, "If anyone's eyes flare,"
"Then they're the shifter." Mia finished his sentence for him.
They all stared at the screen, watching carefully for any flaring eyes. The silence in the room didn't last long before Sam spoke again.
"So, tell me. How exactly does this work with your patients? You show up as their dead relatives, and they think what?" Sam inquired, still with his eyes on the screen.
Lexi blocked out their conversation as she focused on the security camera footage. She briefly heard Mia explain that her patients don't really care, as long as they get to say goodbye. Lexi found it rather sad. People had gone through so much pain and grief that they don't even question seeing their dead relative standing right in front of them again. They'd just do anything to get closure, or at least be able to speak to them again. She understand it though, if she had a chance to see her dead mother again then she would, without even questioning it.
Something caught her eye on the screen which made her break away from her thoughts. "Hey, look." She pointed, "Rewind it a bit." She requested, watching as Sam slowly rewinds the clip. "Stop." She quickly said before pointing at the screen. The man from earlier, the one who Jack had so politely said hello to, had flaring eyes. "There." Lexi stated as Sam zoomed in to get a better look.
