"Mr Turner and Mr Helders! You better behave now." Their English teacher said, angrily. Matt was telling his friend a joke, to which they both laughed. "Sorry." Both said but grinned at each other. "Mr Helders.. may you please repeat what I just said?" Mr Brown asked. "Uh.. That Shakespeare's Hamlet is his longest play.. with.." Matt didn't know the number and looked at Alex for help. "29 551 words.." He whispered into Matt's ear. "I didn't ask you, Turner!" The English teacher frowned. "Sorry sir." Alex replied and Mr Brown shook his head in disbelief.

"Please pay attention." He said and went on with the lesson. Alex looked at Miles who sat diagonally in front of him and zoned out. He was so beautiful.. After class, him, Jamie, Matt, Nick and Miles sat down at the bench where they always went in the breaks. "Guys. What were ya jokin' about?" Jamie wondered, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh just some bad joke about Mr Brown." Alex joked and Matt looked offended. "Good enough for you to laugh!" He said and everyone started laughing a bit. "Ugh.. get a new haircut. You look like a girl, Alex." Someone commented who was just passing by. It was Noah with his two friends. Noah and one of those friends of his were a year above Alex. They always bullied Alex for no reason. Probably because they know that he wouldn't defend himself because he was too shy to say anything.

"Fuck off." Jamie commented. Alex loved his friends for being on his side but he was also mad at himself for not being able to speak up for himself. "Uhh.. no. And you, you look like the fifth Beatles member. Just as worse as Alex." Noah laughed at his own comment and pointed at Miles. "Okay. I don't care. What's so wrong about the Beatles, huh?" Miles asked.

"They're so.. old!" One of them 'countered' and all three laughed. "Think before you say summat, mate." Jamie said and laughed at them, followed by Matt who agreed. Noah plus friends frowned and left without saying anything. Alex still seemed embarrassed or maybe sad. "Al, your hair is quite literally perfect." Miles reassured him, making Alex blush. Miles wasn't lying- he loved Alex's hair. It was so fluffy and curly. "He's right." Matt said and everyone else nodded. (AN: Alex has his Humbug hair in this).

   "Thanks.." Alex smiled at them.

Dearest Miles

You flood my thoughts and I can't seem to let go of the idea of you and I. Your face has been stuck in my brain since the first day I've met you, especially those beautiful eyes of yours. Those eyes.. you think the shine in them is just the reflection of the sun, but no, I know better. You have the universe in you, galaxies peeking through. There isn't a more beautiful sight than you when you smile, as well as the music ringing in my ear when your sweet laugh is piercing through, love.

Sincerely yours
Alex x

Alex sat on his bed, trying to express his thoughts about no one other than his friend Miles Kane. He has written many love letters but didn't show any of them to anyone. It was a way for him to indirectly get his feelings off of his chest - to make it more bearable. The teenager had fallen for his friend a long time ago. He had suppressed his thoughts since then but with time passing, it got harder for him to ignore it. Besides, no one knew he also was into guys and he didn't know how Miles would take it. That was another reason for Alex to keep his mouth shut. He was mostly scared of ruining their friendship just because of his stupid feelings.

Suddenly, someone knocked at the door. "Darlin', dinner is ready!" They said, as the door opened. It was Penny with a smile on her face. Alex panicked and threw the letter behind his back and didn't reply. Instead, he slightly gave a forced smile from his lips, as he stood up and left the room, following his mother downstairs. Once they both arrived at the table, Alex looked at the food for a second before taking the fork into his hand, poking around in the food. Penny sighed, making her son look up at her.

"Al, what's goin' on?" She asked empathetically. Alex thought of something to say. "I'm fine, mum." He somewhat lied and looked down again. But honestly, he wasn't hungry, anyway. "Yer mum made dinner for us, son.." David commented from his seat, making Alex sigh. "Right, sorry." He cleared his throat and ate some of the noodles. David and Penny looked at each other with a slightly worried face.

"Is it Miles?" Penny wondered, making Alex eyes open wide, as he looked at her in panic. How did she know? Or did she even know? "The last time you two were fighting, you ended up crying in your bed.." She added and Alex felt more relaxed to know that his mother didn't know about it. But he also didn't like it to be reminded about that past event. Miles hadn't been feeling good because of some girl and he was pissed at Alex for not giving the answer he had wanted. Miles thought that his friend was acting like an ass when he had asked him for advice.. Alex was just extremely jealous and so he reacted rather negatively.

Alex reminded himself of the question his mother just had asked. "No.. I'm fine." He said again but with more confidence this time, earning a nod from Penny. "I'd like to get sum rest, mum. I'm tired." Alex added, as he yawned. His mother gave him a nod and the boy stood up from his seat and  left for his room. Once he arrived, he checked his messages. His heart lit up when he saw a text from Miles. Matt also texted him. Alex decided to answer him first.

Matt
Is your mum okay with me and the boys meeting up in your garage at the weekend?

Alex
You know she loves you. Of course it is okay! But I'll ask her tomorrow. I'm tired

Matt
You're right haha
Alright, gn

Alex gave a small laugh away and didn't text anything else. Instead, he went into his and Miles' chat.

Mi
Al, you wanna meet up at my home after school tomorrow? :)

Alex
Sure! I am looking forward to it :)

He widely smiled at his phone. Miles went online again, read his text and started typing. However, after a few seconds, he stopped typing. Shortly after, he went back offline, making the smile on Alex's lips disappear. What did he want to say?

Meanwhile, Miles sighed, as he closed the messages. He decided against saying the same Alex had texted and wishing him a beautiful night. Wasn't it like weird? It has been years alongside Alex and Miles never thought of stuff like this. Are bros even doing something like that? Why was he overthinking about that all of the sudden? This has been going on for almost a week now. Alex always seemed to cross his mind and he couldn't do anything against it. Miles opened the messages again to see Alex still being online.

Miles
Great, see ya

As Miles sent the message, the small ticks went blue instantly.

Al
Yep

That was all? Miles didn't know what to think. But honestly, what kind of message was he expecting? He sighed and laid down in his bed. Alex did the same until he noticed the love letter directly next to his head. He took it and hid it together with his diary, hoping no one will just go in, invading his privacy and start reading it. He laid back down for a few minutes, before drifting off to sleep.
